If you're using MJ, please advise me if you can.
In May I weighed 15 stone 7 pounds and I started using MJ 2.5mg.
I'm 5ft7, aged 50.
I have very gradually increased my doses and am now using 7.5mg.
I've used MJ every single week since May.
And all I've lost is 2 stone!
2 stone in 9 months!!!! Almost 10 months!
WTAF.
Whooooooo loses 2 measly stone in 9 (nearly 10) months?!?
Jesus wept.
Surely that's got to be the slowest weight loss ever.
I feel like crying.
I still have another 2 stone to lose before I even get near to the top end of a healthy BMI.
Am I to do this for another 9 or 10 months?!?
It's bankrupting me and destroying my self esteem all in one go😪

All the weight loss injections do is decrease your appetite. Stop wasting money buying the injections and just eat like you were still on them.

That’s a good loss for that time but if you find the dose isn’t working move up.
I’ve been on it since May and am now on 15mg. My starting weight was much higher than yours but… although not consistent… I’ve averaged 1lb a week which I remind myself is normal and healthy. YES I wish it was more. I’ve seen people on it the same time as me lose entire peoples worth of weight BUT I’m losing. I’m not gaining and that’s the main thing. MJ isn’t a quick fix, for some it will be a lifelong medication, people need to stop viewing it as a short cut.

Well then explain how you think “it works” @Namsara if you’re so knowledgable.

look, I cannot stand the weight loss injection talk, because it always comes from people who can’t be arsed to actually think about their lives, and want a miracle solution.

Jabbing yourself isn’t the answer, but these people never want to hear the answer because they would have done it years ago if they had the self control.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 24/02/2025 09:25

Im a slow loser too OP.

Unless I subside on salad and chicken or eggs I don't seem to lose much at all.

Im not prepared to simply eat salad and protein every day of my life so I do have some days where I'll eat normal food, in smaller portions, and try and get at least 6k steps in a day which isn't hard with the school run tbh.

Some of us just are destined to lose slower than others.

So every overweight/obese person should just be instructed to eat as though their appetite is suppressed, and they'll lose weight? Genius! Let's get on to that; the obesity problem will be solved in months!

Love the arrogant ignorance of people who don’t have a clue how weight loss injections work and still pontificate to others.

Mounjaro isn’t just an appetite suppressant. It regulates blood sugar by stimulating insulin secretion. It suppresses glucagon secretion. It slows gastric transit). It mimics GLP-1 hormone, which promotes feeling of fullness.

As for the rest of your post, your hubris might bite you on the arse one day, if for example you find menopause hits you hard, or a medication you find yourself on plays havoc with your metabolism or insulin resistance. Don’t ever think it can never happen to you…

You’re entirely incorrect. Come back when you have the faintest idea what you’re talking about.

Why are you on 7.5 if you have been on it for 9 months?
You should be on 15 by now
2.5 month 1
5 Month 2
7.5 month 3
10 month 4
12.5 month 5
15 month 6

I'm on month 7 (second 15) and am down 2 stone. Yes I would like it to be .ore, but it's steady and it's off

Not necessarily. I came down from 10mg
as it was making me very ill. I am still on 7.5, 8 months in, 4 stone down

LarryUnderwood · 24/02/2025 10:13

Hmmm. I'm on mounjaro and also have been a 'slow' loser - 2 stone in 9 months. As part of that I've lost 14cm off my waist. Not the dramatic fast losses that you read about, and I've not experienced the total loss of appetite or enjoyment of food. It's just switched off the food noise in my head, and I feel fuller for longer. Although I was initially disappointed that the weight didn't drop off, I'm now really pleased it's shifted slowly. It's given my body time to adjust and push through plateaus, has really given me a long time period to get mentally used to the portion size I actually need, and has meant I don't have 'ozempic face'! I know it's hard when you see reports in the news of people dropping dress sizes at a rate of knots but in the long term you are losing in a healthy and sustainable way and hopefully.embedding good habits that will stand you in good stead when you come off the injections. Well done OP - 2 stone is a lot!!

Well having been on them for some months now, it doesn't just supress the appetite, it stops you thinking about food. I can only talk from personal experience.

Personally I have also stopped drinking, before I was drinking 4 bottles of wine a week, plus some spirits. I could easily finish a bottle of proscecco every night and still have room for vodka.

Now, I might have a glass of wine if I fancy one, but it's 1 glass a week if that.

So, no it doesn't just suppress your appetite. Would love to hear your personal experience @JacquesHarlow

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 25/02/2025 19:10

There is actually a slow losers group on here, lots of us losing a pound a week or less. Age is against us for speed but the good thing about the jab for me is that I can keep plodding on with this- unlike lots of diets where I fail after 6 months.

LaurieFairyCake · 25/02/2025 19:11

You're quite mad OP Grin

That's a perfectly normal weight loss for someone of your age, it's exactly the same length of time and I'm a teeny bit older

And I'm completely delighted with the loss which is also incredibly slow

I notice the difference on 10mg though, I only take it every ten days now as I don't want to go faster as I'm already wobbly as fuck all over

But go up to that

Did you start losing from the lower doses or only once you increased?
