If you have a driveway why do you not use it?

Exactly that - our neighbours have a driveway that fits 3 cars at a push in one long line, so you have to move cars around if you want to get on and off the drive, same as ours. Since they moved in they put one car on the drive and leave the other on the road all the time. We're on a new estate where cars aren't meant to be parked on the road at all as it's pretty busy round here. Life's too short to be totally bothered by it but I don't see why they can't use the drive as they're parked on a T junction causing a small obstruction. I believe they do it to save time swapping cars round. Would you do the same thing? I only ask as we've always just moved the cars round 😅

This is so annoying. Especially when other houses don't have a driveway and they have multiple cars!

We have 2 neighbours in our little cul de sac who have drives but don’t park in them at all. The people opposite have a van and 2 cars but park on the road causing chaos. I don’t understand them.

Pocketbattleship in 27 years I never burnt a clutch so no it's not my hill starts nor do I need driving lessons.

Then a steep driveway should be a piece of cake. How has it cost you two new clutches in three years if you're not doing anything wrong?

I park on the street because if I park on the drive, I have to get out onto a lawn that slopes upwards quite sharply from the drive.

Thanks to a less than wholly successful knee replacement and arthritis in the other knee, there's no way I can get out of the car onto the grass, it's far too high. If the drive was wider, I could park the other way round, but it's impossible to open the door more than a couple of inches if I drive in forwards.

I have some neighbours across the road that park their camper van outside my house though my front garden is long. They have a drive long enough for 3 cars and also have a 4x4. It only bothers me because every time I look out of my living room window I see this ugly van, so I bought some up and down blinds which you can set in the middle of the window so i don’t have to see it but can still see my garden and the sky which suits me fine

Yep - a neighbour who has two cars and always parks one outside his front window and one on the drive - even though drive will take two cars. They went to OZ for three months and parked both cars in the road for the duration. The problem is that a new estate was built opposite - narrow road and often parking wars!

Can’t fit our (not very big car) car on the tiny terraced house driveway. My husband can with some manoeuvring but not me. I park across our own driveway.

Hellskitchen24 · 25/02/2025 20:55

It does my head in. I live in a long row of terraces a couple from the end. My neighbours at the end have a perfectly wide, paved, driveway, but instead only park their car next to it. Not over it, but next to it, avoiding the driveway completely. On the odd occasion they drive somewhere once or twice a week, leaving the space. But will sit watching out of their window to immediately move their car back into the space as soon as the other person moves.

I don't like using my drive because my neighbours have decided they need 2 cars, 2 4x4s, a van and a caravan between 3 of them. I cannot see a thing past all of them lined up along the road.

Because it's a pain in the arse juggling 3 Carson a drive
