What goes here (in my fridge)?

So. My fridge declutter and clean has got a bit out of control and I’ve dismantled the fucker and cleaned it thoroughly.

But what goes in these stupid little holes/shelves? They seem completely useless.

What goes here (in my fridge)?

Really? I use it like a deli so it’s cheese and processed meats. I’m low carb so it’s heavily used.

It's raw meat, in with other stuff you won't cook. The meat is in sealed containers though, so unlikely to be dripping over your dairy products.

I had to refrigerate a 5 gallon container of urine last month for 48hrs, so some of us do.

Were you collecting a horse's sample for the Vet ?🤔

LadeedahYadaYada · 21/02/2025 19:35

Don't cans fit like in the Beko fridge propaganda?

Mini cans do, yes! But I rarely have mini cans.

They come in a box of 6 don’t them? They’re basic a breakfast food, right?

Nope - 5 in a box now, shrinkflation at its finest!

Get yourself some Gold Label Barley Wine Beer... I used to get very very drunk on that as a kid. Super strong and small cans.. 🤣🤣

Please tell me you mean litres. 5 gallons is 22 litres! I don’t want to meet the person that can produce 22 litres of urine in 24 hours!

Misses point of thread totally, but but but you can't store raw meat in the same place as cheese.
Food hygiene says this is a total no way.

Raw meat, like the sausages, can drip even out of the packaging , and if there are any food poisoning bacteria in the sausages, and this gets onto the cheese and you eat the cheese and the raw sausage drip, you could be really poorly.

Store raw meat where it can't drip or touch or contaminate any foods to be eaten without further cooking.
Store cooked meat above raw meat and fish
Use food boxes to keep raw meat and fish from touching any other foods, or dripping onto any other foods

Cheese isn't on the pics on the drawer, there is just meat and fish

redfishcat · 21/02/2025 20:41

Thanks @whatonearthisgoingonnow @LasagneLasagne for also being a bit shocked at the mix of raw meat and cheese

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/02/2025 20:50

They look the perfect size for tubes of Wasabi, the little jars of miso, pesto and all the other things that I spend far too much on take up shelf space but leave huge wasted gaps in the main fridge space.

GRex · 21/02/2025 20:53

I'm getting disturbed by the quantities of wee in fridges.

Would fridge side door organisers fit, so you could store little bits in there? Like this: https://amzn.eu/d/5OHBzMG

JustMeHello · 21/02/2025 21:01

I would put those jelly stock pots in there, they're always falling into gaps at the back of my fridge.

I’m really not concerned about this. I’ve had my fridge like this for 20 years and no one has ever had food poisoning.

Also the cheese is sealed.

My fridge has a different dial option for the cheese drawer to the meat drawer as well, as meat is kept optimally in a different way to cheese.
