To be playing loud music

Am pottering around the house/garden and have my cd playing quite loudly - mainly because I knew next door would be going on school run and then playing out the front for the rest of the evening as they always do - however they are sat in their back garden chatting, and I now feel embarrased to turn it off (they haven't complained!) and also feel that I like my music - it might be loud but it is summer so AIBU?

I have my music on during the day so that i can hear it in the garden and no one has ever complained. Next door does the same, and after 3.30pm the house 3 doors away puts theirs on. Luckily we all seem to have the same taste in music. I would leave it on unless asked to turn it down (or if the neighbours had small kids about to go to bed but all the kids round here seem to currently be having a water fight!)

YANBU. Well, depends on what you were playing!
What was it?

Surely the responsible rule is to do what you want as long as you know you are not upsetting anyone else. Which you don't - people don't complain, not because they happen to want exactly what you're playing at exactly the time you're playing it - but because they are considerate and don't want to cause bad feeling.

If everyone followed the 'do what you want, it's your house/garden', it would be an absolute freakin' nightmare.

I'm often caught between music on one side, music on the other. What should I do? Play my music LOUDER than they do, to bully them into listening to mine?
