I hate Sundays

I've always hated Sundays. Ever since I was a little girl I would just get this really heavy, sad feeling on a Sunday and I wondered if anyone else did/does?
I used to spend my weekends with my Dad as a child and he would take me home on a Sunday where I would cry because I missed him so much in the week so I'm not sure if this feeling has just stayed with me deep down and now Sundays are tainted for me. But I'm in my 30s now, married with children and there's no need for me to hate this day so much but I still do. Sunday is like a January for me. Anyone else feel the same or do I need therapy? 🙈

I was about to say Sing Something Simple too.

It's a contender to be in my Room 101. Their melancholy droning. I remember the Cliff Adams Singers mutilating Up Town Girl on one horrific occasion 😂

It was a good Sunday if you had an outing to a garden centre or the tip.

I struggled with lockdown because it was like being trapped in a tedious permaSunday for month after month.

I tend to start Sunday with getting out to junior parkrun which helps. If that's cancelled I feel really lost. I tend to go to the gym on a Sunday evening and that's something to look forwards to. I hate Sundays with nothing happening, and having an autistic teenager who likes doing nothing is not good for my need to get out and do stuff.

Saturdays have so much more energy. Sunday is like an awkward waiting room.

Thanks again everyone for all of your replies. It's so interesting reading about other people's Sundays - it's really brightened my Sunday night blues 😄
I decided to go swimming on my own this afternoon and actually it really helped shift my mood. I think it's also helped to know that I'm not alone in my Sunday feeling.

Have a great week OP and an even better next weekend. Plan your Sunday, go out even just for a walk or window shopping. It will lift your spirits.

Haven't rtft, maybe half of it, but wanted to say that I love at least my Sunday mornings because of our lovely church, and gathering to worship Jesus.
I sometimes feel slightly anxious by the evening if work hasn't been going well, but otoh enjoy cooking Sunday tea.

Gosh yes the Sunday night dread! And theme tunes that trigger it...
Antiques Roadshow
Songs of Praise
Heartbeat
London's Burning

all brought the dread of school or work the following day.

I don't mind Sundays now though. Kids are grown and have flown the next, DH retired (I still work part time). That dread has definitely gone! I now find the Antiques Roadshow and Call the Midwife theme tune rather comforting, I've survived another week and am anticipating the week ahead. The comfort of routine and the flow of time...

The Last of the Summer Wine theme always reminds me of boring Sundays too.
