Chickenpox toddler - is this normal??

My 2 year old son has had chicken pox since Thursday. He’s been really unwell with it (much more so than his 4yo sister) and has some of the spots in his mouth.
Hes vomited once on Thursday evening & has had awful dihorrea today. He’s now asleep again. He’s been super lethargic since this began too, sleeping a lot.
I can’t get him to eat because of the spots in his mouth that appeared yesterday. Tried bland food, ice lollies, yoghurt, squash, juice etc

ive just called 111 and am waiting for a call back.

Is this all normal for chicken pox? I’m comparing to his sister who seemed to pretty much breeze through it, slightly tired but still playing etc just a bit grumpy

thank you!

The second sibling almost always seems to get it worse, higher viral exposure I think.

Hopefully you've had him seen and he's doing ok, poor lad. My daughter had them in her mouth and under her eyelids, not pleasant.

This was the same for my two,y you gest was under 1 and had an absolutely terrible time but it barely bothered my eldest

How's your boy now? It's a common thing that the second child getting it gets it much worse due to the level of exposure to the virus from the sibling. One of mine had terrible diarrhoea with it, I don't think gastro stuff is unusual either. Glad you got him seen since he was getting dehydrated, poor wee toot.

Mine had not had exposure from her sibling she had it before no 2 was born I was told it was because the immune system was still weak being a baby.

At our nct group mums had been deliberately exposing their older dc and not telling us

Hi all! Thanks for your concern, he was dehydrated but only mildly so did the 5ml water in a syringe every 5 mins and then he perked up. He’s much better today 🤞🏼 so hopefully we’re over the worst of it now
