To feel disappointed about gift on valentine's day

DH bought me a valentine's present, we only ever do something small, a card and an edible usually. This year he bought me something to use in the bathroom, despite knowing I have eczema and only ever using a certain shower gel. In his defence he did say I'm always letting the kids have it when it's gifted to me by other people so he thought I'd appreciate being able to have it for myself. I'm not annoyed about the gift, I just feel a bit disappointed that he doesn't seem to know enough about me to think about what I'd actually like and chose something unsuitable. Aibu to feel that way, or should I just appreciate the effort made?

I understand your disappointment. Though, it may be helpful to look at the bigger picture. How is he the rest of the year? Is he thoughtful and kind? If so, focus on that then the one day a year. I always thought Valentine’s Day was shit.

I got 25kg of coal and 2 pork pies 🤣. I really like those particular pork pies and he had to go out of his way to get them. The coal is very much appreciated as flowers/chocolates won't keep me warm.
