Cannot find plus size maternity clothes

MummyToBe89 · 14/02/2025 09:51

Posting here for traffic.

I’m a UK size 18/20 and currently 11w2d. I’ve started trying to look for maternity clothes, especially for work, but there’s such a small choice for plus size options.

I don’t want to buy any size 18 as I’m already in size 20 in some shops. I’ve even tried Shein, who have loads until you filter down to the larger sizes!

Any recommendations please? X

I had bits from both George and Tu. I did try a couple of bits from Shein but the fit wasn’t great

H and M was my go to at size 18. I remember I had a cord maternity skirt that I lived in!

I was a bit bigger than you when I was pregnant with my twins, and i got most of my clothes from New Look.

MummyToBe89 · 14/02/2025 10:42

Thank you for your replies, it’s good to know there were more options than I was aware of. I’ll have my 12 week scan then get to shopping!

Yep George maternity clothes were my staple.

Danikm151 · 14/02/2025 10:45

Look at the sale rail in next, newlook etc the usually have maternity items.
realistically you could just got a size up in some stuff but you’ve got a while till a prominent bump appears so plenty of time to look.

Pipperleen · 14/02/2025 10:47

I got a set of dresses from Bloomchic. They were midi-style and lasted me all the way through - I was absolutely massive and worked up until 39 weeks and they all looked fine. I felt great actually, all things considered.

Vinted Smile
All the best! x

Depending on your shape as you get bigger, you might do better to just size up in normal clothes. Not everyone has a pronounced bump shape, so stretchy clothes in a bigger size can work well. It really depends how you grow though so I wouldn't buy anything until you need to!

@MummyToBe89 Yours Clothing do some nice maternity stuff

EmmaMaria · 14/02/2025 11:49

I have no skin in the game, so I haven't tried them, but Yours appears to have some nice maternity wear in larger sizes. You are positively petite looking at the sizes they go up to. I do buy other things from them and they are generally reasonable prices and well made - a lot of their non-maternity would probably look good too.

Butterflysunshine01 · 14/02/2025 11:54

Smallshow on Amazon do really comfy stretchy dresses! And they wash and dry really well! I absolutely lived in them

mammabing · 14/02/2025 12:03

I second Yours clothing. They have a range called Bump It Up where I got all my basics. Also ASOS had some nice bits.

RoundSquareWithTriangles · 16/02/2025 14:06

Yours is great, as others have said. I highly recommend.

FiftynFooked · 16/02/2025 14:14

Simply Be also have them and quite often run decent discounts.

MummyToBe89 · 16/02/2025 17:50

Thanks Ladies, some great suggestions here!

Really Yours is your place.
Tu isn't bad but they can be a bit stingy with the cut sometimes.
I'm not pregnant but have a pregnant looking shape. Swollen with water retention from heart/kidney/liver problems, unfortunately. I was a size 22 to start with, so had to go up in size just because of my belly. Yours has been a godsend. Some of the patterns are ugly as sin, if I tell the truth but there's some nice things too.

Their hanky hem, pleated yoke, peplum and swing tops in particular work well. You'd probably be okay in these fit and flare styles without having to size up too much or buy actual maternity wear but they do that too, I believe. They seem to be really aware of the needs of the pear shaped body. They have a good return policy, especially if you have a local branch. They do have a £1.99 return fee for up to six items + £1 per item after that but they don't charge it if you can return to store. That's not the good bit. The good bit as they never question a return and credit it back to your card fast.

The fabric quality varies but most is decent quality and it's the same story pretty much everywhere these days. Always some good bargains too. You're on the smaller end, so you'd probably have some good options as the 26/28 usually seem to sell out first.
