Let spa know or not?

My friend treated me to a spa day at a very upmarket hotel on Monday for my birthday. I've never been to a spa and we used the hot tub and sauna, as well as swimming. No treatments.

Since then my shins have been really itchy, I thought they were just dry so have been moisturising but it hasn't helped and tonight they are covered in little bumps, and when I googled it seems it's hot tub folliculitis!

WIBU to email the hotel and let them know? Do they need to know? I'm pretty annoyed as it's really really itchy. I wouldn't complain, just tell them I've developed it and say I'm disappointed as it was supposed to be a treat!

Also, do I need to go to the GP?

YABU don't email
YANBU yes email them

If it's definitely caused by them not cleaning the hot tubs as they should / incorrect levels of chemicals then yes I would send a short and factual email. I've never heard of hot tub folliculitis though, what a very 21st century condition!

Had to google to find out what it was, but as caused by bacteria, yes I think you should let them know.

added a screenshot of the google summary, but it's "under review" here's the link

Hot tubs are grim. Simmering with other people's dead skin and bodily fluids

I wouldn't have chosen to go at all to be honest, my friend did it as a suprise. £60 to swim and sit in hot water and a sauna! We did get a "free" coffee and cake but what a rip off!

I didn't feel I could refuse to do the stuff given it was a gift.

I did see them taking a sample of the water at one point, but I don't know what they do with it.

If it was bacteria reaction wouldn't it be over your whole body?

No idea.

But I've spoken to the GP this morning and he says that given the speed it's developed he doesn't think there's a bacterial element. Apparently it can be caused just by the heat and chemicals which is what he thinks is the case with me.

So not an issue with the spa cleanliness though I'll let them know just in case.
