To be logging on to my usual fertility/mums sites and getting condolence msgs (very nice and I DO appreciate) from women who add their gestation time at the bottom of each msg????? IE....

"am so sorry for your loss Laura"
Lots of love

sorry don't know your story cherub... have you had a miscarriage?

if so, yes I think excruciatingly insensitive.

ivykaty44 · 08/05/2008 22:21

I would feel it was a tad silly to say sorry and then say my gestation time - you are though right at this time to feel sensitive and exactly how you want to feel...

SlartyBartFast · 08/05/2008 22:22

here?

LynetteScavo · 08/05/2008 22:24

I think adding a gestation is just plain weird anyway... (and also adding your real name is a bit yuk....why have a posting name if you're going to useyour real name??)

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 08/05/2008 22:25

Is it one of those sites where they set up a 'siggy' so that their details come up on ever single post?

"I've been annoying people with by stupid cheesey ticker for 5 months, 4 weeks, 3 days, 2 hours and one second".

cherubtastic · 08/05/2008 22:27

Sorry - didnt explain too well. My friend had a mc and posted it on a forum we both regularly use. I love the forum but it is something i've noticed before with other people. I myself have had 4 mc and have noticed it each time I posted but was too to bring it up

Sorry, my emoticons seem to be covering my text???

OP posts:
bubblerock · 08/05/2008 22:30

If it comes up automatically then I can't see a problem tbh. If they typed it then that is a bit weird.

RainyWednesday · 08/05/2008 22:34

It's really insensitive

I add my dates if it's relevant to the post I'm making, but most of the time I don't - and definitely not in MC threads.

YANBU!

SlartyBartFast · 08/05/2008 22:42

perhaps you should complain to their Boss?
was it a miscarriage thread?

cherubtastic · 08/05/2008 22:46

It's definately typed

OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 08/05/2008 22:46

oh dear,
how insensitive

BigBadMouse · 08/05/2008 22:47

YANBU but sometimes people just don't think about these things

The only other parenting forum I have been on has 'tickers' which come up automatically but you are supposed to disable them for certain sensitive topics. IIRC most people remember to and if they don't they apologise and get the message deleted.

Don't go there now though - MN is far better.

cherubtastic · 08/05/2008 22:48

When I was pg I was the same as you RW but if it was a mc thread then I wouldnt have dreamed of it!!!

OP posts:
BigBadMouse · 08/05/2008 22:49

Is it really typed? [shocked]

Thats very insensitive.

I couldn't be bothered to type all that every time I posted - as if anyone really was that interested

windygalestoday · 08/05/2008 22:49

yes it is insensitive my dh was married before and i have a picture of our sons as a tag- on mails to people his ex wife also knows i remove the tag purely because i think its insensitive, maybe she should point it out in a nice way??

MrsTittleMouse · 09/05/2008 08:34

I can't believe that people would be that insensitive!

poppy34 · 09/05/2008 08:36

god no - that is as crass as you can get. Plus those tickers are just plain odd - remember breathing a huge sigh of relief when I found mumsnet and realised amongst other things it was ticker free.
