Was it Love Links? A story about love usually read out by the radio presenter with melancholy music playing.

Something like "Matt and Sarah went there separate ways. The years passed by and they both married other people"

I remember being at College … and everything stopped for Our Tune. People had calamitous lives !

Me too!!

I remember one morning after a particularly emotionally draining Our Tune, the second it finished all the doors on our floor of our hall of residence opened hurriedly as we all dashed out to make a medicinal purposes cup of tea in the kitchen.

All 9 of us, emotionally wrung out Grin

It sounds a bit like Mellow Madness on Capital. That was three songs.

I think you're getting it muddled with Late Night Love, which I thought was regional too! It was always on in the taxi on the way home from a night out.

@Monstermissy36 I used to love LNL with Graham Torrington back in the late 90s/early 2000s! Was it a national programme or were you a Midlander too? Bring back GT I say!

Graham is on Boom Radio on Friday and Saturday nights at 9

There was Moments in Love in the evenings, I think on Capitol Radio. I'll have to ask DH the DJ's name, he has always been more into slushy tunes romantic than me. The music was Moments in Love by Massive Attack.

DJ was Richard Allinson.

I recall being about 12 and my older sister listening to this at about 1am, was it repeated? I could be completely muddling up memories.

Yes, it was repeated in the early hours. Originally on at roughly 10.30 am live, IIRC, but also on again late at night - DH and I once caught it coming home from the airport after a late flight. I loved Our Tune. Once, probably 20 years ago, one of DH’s work colleagues was featured on it, which was fun listening (it was an arduous story, but one with a rewarding and happy ending).

Radio one used to have something like this on a Sunday evening I think there'd be a soppy or tragic story explaining why the song was special then they'd play the song

It's the the music from Romeo & Juliet, the film from the 60s

Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet (A Time for Us) by Nino Rota.
A big favourite on Classic FM 🙂
