I know no perfect job will ever exist, but do you like your job? Is it just 'ok' or are you unhappy but sticking it out for the salary/pension/maternity leave etc.

Just wondering if I need to build my resilience. Would you put up with a toxic workplace? Bullying manager? Job where you felt totally out of your depth?

I feel in the past like i jumped ship too quickly. I like to think my reasons were valid, I've usually left for a better wage but once I left due to being homesick after 1.5 years (working abroad)
Then I left after 1 year due to a bullying manager with no chance of changing teams (small school)

I left another due to never being given a proper break despite the break being unpaid.
Other than that as I say I've mainly left for better wage and conditions and have 17 years of work experience since school/uni.

Just feel like i need to build my resilience though so the pattern doesn't repeat itself. Interested to hear from anyone else.. i just don't feel like I could stay in a role I really disliked even for good pension etc.

I've definitely been a bit of job hopper in the past, the current u turn on WFH has made me more cautious and recognising my good package even if I'm not enjoying the work as much as I might.

My lines are bullying manager and toxic immediate environment, life is too short for that and it takes over your whole life. But if I like my colleagues, I'm earning well, and have good flexibility, I will stick it out longer, or at least, that's what I'm doing right now. My son leaves primary school this year and my next step up is director which will likely mean much more demanding roles, so I've decided to coast a little until DS is in high school, so I can attend all the end of year stuff etc.

I don't mind working say an extra hour a day, but I'm no longer willing to be spending most of my evening and part of my weekends doing unpaid overtime like a lot of teachers do.

Good - it changes a bit each day. I work in a sector of community development so everyone I meet is trying to maslke the world a bit of a better place.
Cons - the legislation and support for people trying to improve their neighbours isn't enough so lots of passion and good projects by the wayside.

It’s creative- I have a say in the creation and design of things, and then I have an active role in creating them.
Its interesting and varied and never boring. Im also consulted for my opinion so i feel valued and important. I also know that what we create makes a bit of difference in the world.

The downside? I’d like about 10k more for my expertise and skill set! Also I work with a few very frustrating people and bosses who have ambitions beyond the capacity of the team.
