Lucy Letby. Why do some people only read headlines?

1000 replies

skyfirechesnut · 12/02/2025 17:16

I was at work today and someone says so Lucy letby is innocent now. They have just gone with the media headlines. Instead of researching.

Sorry for the fail link but this is quite a good article below on the current state of things. The author has attended all trials and listened to appeals and conferences.

I also don't understand people who say she was scapegoated. If people follow the Thirwall enquiry this is far from the case. She was totally protected, her parents calling up, being in meetings, dictating apologies. It beggars belief.

I can somewhat understand people saying she is innocent based on medical evidence after the press conference but even that is nothing new.

You can't say my expert is better than yours.

Also people seem to think it was all Dewi Evans for the prosecution it wasn't. There was Dr Bohin, Prof Arthurs , Prof Hindnarsh and Dr Mar etc.

That is without the Doctor colleagues if you want to dispute them.

Then they new defence have changed ideas from the conference they had in December.

They are also not totally impartial.
It isn't as simple as the headlines.

Here is the article.

It is so disturbing. I can understand people being sceptical if they were convinced by the trial reports, but the vitriol at the questioning of the evidence when the consequences are so massive is sickening. Would these people genuinely prefer to have someone serving the rest of their life in prison than potentially uncover the systemic failures highlighted which have huge ramifications for all of us? I thought we’d moved on from the Come on, let’s go to the stoning mentality.

Just read entire disturbing thread

@JandamiHash a quick AS reveals you posted 149 posts on this, you must have spent most of the last day or so on mumsnet!

Your AS isn’t working as I haven’t made any near that many posts on this thread. That would be a third of posts and according to my AS I’ve made 13 in the last day and that’s mostly on other threads.

Meanwhile you’ve made 177 posts since Wednesday so I find it laughably rich to tell me I must have spent the last day or so on MN.

Are you also recovering from an op which means you’re not at work and bugger all to do? 😆

199 posts since Tuesday @JandamiHash and if you’re not laid up…. Wow!

Spottyshirt · 14/02/2025 10:01

And all pretty…. Fiery. Must be bloomin exhausting

MistressoftheDarkSide · 14/02/2025 10:15

I watched a Netflix series last night cos insomnia is my constant companion. Particularly bad because today is late DPs birthday and the cosmic joke is strong on that - three years ago I had to pick his burial plot on this day cos council time restrictions. Anyhow, that's by the by.

The series I watched is based on history, it's called Gunpowder - plenty of swashbuckling, costume porn, defenders of the faith and of course the gleeful disembowelling of traitors and heretics.

I can't think why it was so resonant......

What’s your point exactly? Other than being a bit stalker-y and weird because I don’t agree with what you’re saying?

You said I posted 149 posts on this thread. I didn’t. Why did you lie?

Also you’ve posted a similar amount under your new NN so what operation did you have? Whats the magical number that’s unreasonable, oh wise one?

Fuck I have been there!! It’s horrific. My sympathies. Make sure you do absolutely nothing and brace yourself when you go to the loo (sorry I thought you were being sarcastic about an operation 🤦🏼‍♀️)

I hope you have someone waiting on you hand and foot.

Oh that’s so kind of you

when were you up and about

I’m a single parent but they’re teens and they’re helping as much as they can when back from school!

I made the mistake of getting up and about way too soon IIRC 3 days later was faffing on cleaning and going to shops (just from boredom really) and I really paid the price, the recovery took so long in the end and I do blame my hurry to recover

Tell the teens to make themselves useful, the uterus you birthed them out of has broken, it’s probably their fault so the least they can do is be your slaves 😂 take it easy xx

Quick question

how long ago did you have done? And do you think you’ll need another repair in the future

sorry for the hijak

And as much as I’d like to tell you it’s all fine I’m back on the list for another. Though it’s definitely better than it was but it still needs fixing again. Which is why rest is so important!

Kittybythelighthouse · 14/02/2025 12:56

JandamiHash · 13/02/2025 14:29

No. Im not interested in being ordered to do things by baby killer fans.None of you listen anyway.

Grownups discussing a matter of great importance to our own and our children’s lives (and yours whether or not you realise it) are not “baby killer fans”. At least try to engage in good faith.

Finallybackinbootcuts · 14/02/2025 13:17

Not going to say she’s innocent but the evidence isn’t 100% convincing. Also isn’t it true that the scientist who wrote one of the papers used as evidence against her feels the prosecution got it wrong. I mean wouldn’t he know?

Sorry does it being in AIBU preclude reasonable discussion? I assumed it was here for traffic and awareness raising.

As I said, I wasn’t aware that AIBU was exclusively the domain of shit stirrers, keyboard warriors, derailers and trolls but you’ve put me right so 👍
