Aid to Somalia?

We have pensioners losing their winter fuel allowance, veterans rough sleeping, NHS collapsing, economy tanking and now Labour are sending money to Somalia.
£25million in next 5 years for "Green Urban Growth" (whatever that is).

These are the guys guilty of Piracy on the High Seas!

According to the International Maritime Bureau, a piracy reporting centre based in Malaysia, some 54 crew members and passengers have been killed worldwide since 2006.
The economic losses are also enormous.

AIBU in thinking this isn't exactly a priority?

I see the Russian bots are out again.

So dull.

Who do you mean exactly?

If this is a genuine post then I feel so completely depressed about what people in this country are becoming. Learn to think critically.

Foreign aid is taking money from poor people in rich countries and giving it to rich people in poor countries.

I worry that this is sad but true😞

You are being unreasonable to bring the pirates into it. This is a small number of Somali people.
25m is nothing when it comes to the government budget so wouldn't make a dent in the other issues if the government didn't spend it on that. However, we are one of the richest countries in the world and could afford to do both, it's just how governments choose to spend the money. I also don't believe we would be in half the difficulties we are in if successive governments hadn't introduced policies that pushed up the price of housing. If housing was affordable there'd be a lot fewer issues. This isn't helped by the population of the UK believing property prices going up are good. They bloody well aren't unless for most people, especially those who don't own or want to upsize.

I'm also not someone who cares more for the person down the road who I don't know than for a Somali person and find this look after our own thing bizarre.
