Help with Vinted Please

Very new to Vinted, sold an item Thursday of last week, which I posted on Friday (so literally 3 days ago including the weekend).
Buyer has today (Monday) lodged a claim with Vinted saying item not received.
I am a bit surprised to say the least, not having a good first time experience, any ideas on how Vinted will deal with the situation gratefully received. I posted ordinary 2nd class post.

What does it show on the app? Does it say it’s on its way or does it say item delivered? I have had this before as a buyer where, according to Vinted/the courier, my item has “been delivered” but it’s nowhere to be seen so then as the buyer you have to state you haven’t received it to be able to claim it back as a lost parcel.

notmyrealname101 · 10/02/2025 23:35

Was the label for postage created through Vinted? No tracking?
It's too soon for them to lodge a complaint, you get a few more days until Vinted will do anything or cancel the sales (I think it's 7 days to send it, and then there's the transit time ontop of that) 2nd class can take up to 4 working days, we are only on day 2 now! It will probably arrive tomorrow or next day then the buyer can withdraw the claim. Perhaps just send a message to reassure them it's on the way.

ViaRia01 · 10/02/2025 23:38

You say that you used normal second class post… but was that the delivery option selected by the buyer?

On my own settings, second class post is not an option. The buyer could request Royal Mail tracked 48 hrs but not normal second class.

ViaRia01 · 10/02/2025 23:41

I have a bad feeling that the buyer may have noticed that you didn’t use tracked delivery (or whatever their preferred postal option was) and has decided to keep the item and claim to vinted for a missing item.

christmashelp24 · 10/02/2025 23:42

You cant use ordinary 2nd class post to send stuff, you have to use the shipping method the buyer selected so there is tracking.

If you didn’t do this then it doesn’t matter if the buyer receives the item, they can say they didn’t- and if you didn’t use the right shipping method, Vinted will probably side with them.

InALonelyWorld · 10/02/2025 23:44

This is why I have turned off the Royal mail (untracked) option. Not to mention the fact that it's the only option you have to pay postage for and the amount you get back is less than it should be.

Carnation25 · 10/02/2025 23:45

I would wait and see what Vinted have to say.
As a buyer, I recently had a parcel fail to turn up - received a notification from Vinted basically asking me to be patient and if it had not arrived by a given date (28 days later), I would have 2 days to raise an issue about the lost parcel and receive a full refund.

Thank you to everyone who has responded, very helpful.
I thought as the seller it was my choice in terms of postage, not the buyers. I hadn't realised this as I only have royal mail 2nd class switched on in my settings, why does the buyer get to determine the postage options?

Because different postage options cost different amounts and not all options are near where the buyer is. Not everyone will have a Yodel pick up near them for example so they won't choose that.

AzureLurker · 11/02/2025 00:28

Do you have a receipt as proof of cost to reclaim and therefore proof of postage? Buyer always chooses postage if there is an option and I'm fairly certain some of them are automatically listed. I always choose one that is near my work to collect or on the way to my gym(that one not used much lately!) As pp said they may have kept the item and claimed otherwise, though that would be quick if it had arrived i guess. I would recommend using the tracked Inpost/Evri/Yodel in future, even they go missing occasionally but it's easier to prove/claim.

Because it's being sent to them?
Like, don't turn Evri on if you don't have a local point for example but have several options there
Sending RM 2nd Class isn't a tracked option and opens up this possibility

confusedlots · 11/02/2025 00:59

I turned off the option for posting via Royal Mail for this reason, it's not tracked so leaves you open to buyers saying they haven't received it and you can't prove otherwise. Haven't had any issues with other postig methods.

ViaRia01 · 11/02/2025 02:27

What you say that you only have Royal Mail second class switched on in your settings…. Two things to ask:
(1) are you sure? That isn’t an option in my own settings. The only Royal Mail option is “Royal Mail tracked 48” so that’s not just standard 2nd class post.
(2) what did the buyer actually select? Can you see, if you go back into the order, can you still “click here to get your shipping label”, or what does it actually say is the status of the order?

OKNerd · 11/02/2025 02:30

I thought you couldn’t lodged a dispute until it was about 12 days late?

Because they’re paying for the postage

DBD1975 · 13/02/2025 10:04

Thank you for all of your responses very helpful and much appreciated.
As many of you have said the item was actually posted 2nd class tracked and it was received yesterday and the buyer has confirmed.
My issue now is what to do about feedback as I think there were unreasonable expectations in terms of postage and opening a case against me 1 working days after posting was totally unrealistic. However if I mention anything about this in the feedback then I have no doubt the buyer will leave me bad feedback, not sure what to do in the circumstances.

You just leave it

InALonelyWorld · 13/02/2025 10:19

@DBD1975 I would just leave it personally but if they give you negative feedback and it is mentioned in the comment, you can reply to it and briefly explain your side if you want to.
