I work at a large NHS trust in North East England. The car park is not fit for purpose, getting in and out of the site can take up to an hour as the volume of traffic is too much for the exit and entrance points, there are not enough spaces for both staff and patients and the public transport is unreliable and slow.
As staff we pay around £28 for our parking permits, and have been told parking eye is going to be enforcing fines on both staff and patients.
i don’t agree with what they have said. They know that they sell more parking permits for what they can offer spaces, and any staff member who is unable to park in a space so makes do with an undesignated parking area will get a parking eye fine.
This will apply to patients too, so they are faced with not attending their appointment or receiving a fine.
Unfortunately staff car parks are already full before 8am, so any staff trying to park after the school run will be penalised. The housing estates nearby are resident permits, quite rightly so nowhere close to park.
ive attached some communication we have had from the trust and from unions.
I feel the trust should organise a park and ride or a multi storey or something before they start penalising staff who are already paying into the scheme
if anyone has any ideas I’d be welcome to listen to them. It’s causing a lot of stress to many of us when all we want to do is get to work on time and look after our patients
The poll
YANBU. I should be expect to be able to park if I’m paying my parking permit fee every month, and the hospital need to ensure there is adequate parking
YABU Considering the communications from the hospital unions, suck it up
