HRT light at the end of the tunnel?

I have recently started to take HRT estrogen in gel form and progesterone as tablets.
The first 11 days of the gel was like hell. Feeling sick, tired and zoned out. Then I felt okay. I started the progesterone tablets 2 days ago and I am wiped out. I just want to sleep and I am feeling quite low. I take sertraline anyhow but I do feel really low in motivation and mood. I had a small glass of wine last night and my mood drastically dropped.
Will this get better? I'm not sure if I can continue feeling like this as I'm not functioning at work at all.
Has anyone experienced this and how did you cope?

I had terrible fatigue initially on the progesterone (utrogestan) but it improved after a few months and now I don't get this side effect anymore. Was just a case of riding it out.

Definitely ride it out for at last 3 months then decide.

Thank you that's helpful and I feel less alone!

I managed 5 months on progesterone and then switched to the mirena coil which was a life saver.

Utrogestan can make you feel like you have been drugged.

But give it a few months before you change. The patches or coil might suit better.

It can take time for some women to find the right treatment your definitely not alone but if your struggling in work it will be getting to you we are supposed to just get on with everything as nothing is happening to our bodies. Good luck.

Is there a reason you can’t have a Mirena coil? I have had one for 30 years, firstly for contraception and later for HRT. I’ve had none of your symptoms.

Mirena is great for me and my mood issues as it’s continuous levels instead of peaking and dropping so much…but everyone is different . P.s. it’s best not to drink alcohol on sertraline, also many women start to react badly to alcohol during perimenopause because it triggers histamine release…..I only drink on special occasions now.
