New friend (mum of new child at school) who I actually quite like (had coffee few times) - came round to see my new kitchen and asked if I wanted her DS high chair (he is now in booster seat)...my DD2 is 4 months ....was very grateful as bit skint at mo and said yes please thanks a lot.
She dropped it off yesterday (I wasn't home) and it nice chair good nick reclining seat....BUT no tray (she has lost it apparantly )....Anyway not sure how much use it will be to wean 4 month old (especially BLW) without a tray....
So now am feeling irked (though I am pretty sure IAMBU) but I guess am going to have to buy one anyway, have this one to get rid off (not a lot of space), and what will I say when she comes for coffee and am not using her highchair.....aaaggghhhhh!

Tell her someone has offered you one with a tray which you feel will be better, so would she like hers back, or is she okay with you dropping it off at the charity shop

nobodyputsBBinthecorner · 08/05/2008 09:29

cant u just get a replacement tray?

chrissnow · 08/05/2008 09:29

Actually I found the trays on mine to be more trouble than they were worth. Just somewhere to put food in babies reach to throw at you!!! Does it push close enough to the table?

peanutbear · 08/05/2008 09:32

PMSL I would say the tray was an integral part of the high chair I think she could have told you the tray was missing

if you cant get a replacement try I would tell her someone else offered you one at the same time

colacubes · 08/05/2008 09:40

little annoying, whats the point, try and get tray ring the manufacturer, tell them it broke and you need a replacement, may do it for free.

nobodyputsBBinthecorner · 08/05/2008 09:48

or visit your local mothercare, they might be able to help or put you in touch with supplier if its a well known brand

morningpaper · 08/05/2008 18:29

chop legs off so it fits under your normal dining room table

Contact the supplier of the chair, they might have spare parts you can buy.
Someone gave me a cot, it was in great condition but had no fittings, but mothercare (it was a mothercare one!) sent me all the nuts and bolts for it for £20 or something, I'm using it now 8 years later for dc3!

I was in a similar position. The highchair that I got had a tray, but no thingies to hold it on

I got a deep tray like you would see produce displayed in at the greengrocers, drilled a couple of holes and used a long bolt with wing nuts on to secure it to the arms of the highchair using the existig holes for the original tray. I reckon that it was probably better than the flat tray which was originally on the high chair because as ds chased the food around whilst doing BLW, it didn't plop over the edge.

This is no use of course if your highchair has some other type of tray system.

thanks for all helpful suggestions
Well I asked her today if she though she knew where she misplaced tray as I kinda thought it would help as starting weaning soon....she kinda shrugges and said oh yup sure I can find it and the net basket thingie for underneath ...she is much more laid back than I am
