To go back to the emergency dentist despite seeing them two weeks ago?

Hi all. I had agonising toothache in one of my upper right teeth (it's either a canine or a premolar) a few weeks ago, attended the emergency dentist and they started a root canal. They told me I would have to register with an nhs dentist ASAP to have it finished or the pain would return. I have since called around 50 dentists, none of which are taking nhs patients.

The pain has returned - its been niggling for the last week but is now back with a vengeance. I am in agony despite taking cocodamol, ibuprofen and using clove oil. I can't lay down as there is a massive feeling of pressure in my mouth, can't close my teeth together or eat as the slightest touch is unbearable.

I cannot afford a private dentist and I can't find an NHS one. I really do not want to to lose the tooth as it would be visible due to its location. I really don't know what to do.

Any advice? Thanks

Sounds like the root canal has failed or they just did a deep filling, I don't quite know what you mean by started a root canal.. I had it in a molar and had to get it pulled. A mouth guard helped with the not being able to close my mouth.

Yes I'd go back but you may have to accept it being taken out.

Thank you. They said it is the first stage of a root canal, I think it's called a pulp extirpation.

I have an appointment for 7pm today so will hopefully get some relief.

It’s not going to settle until you get the root treatment done and they cannot do that at emergency dentist.

you do not have to be in same area as NHS dentist , you can travel. If you want to save the tooth then start asking and searching outside of your area. Ask friends and family or just get on the phone , you may have to travel a considerable distance.

The alternative is to have the tooth out .

Also bin the clove oil, it burns gums and makes pain worse . Should never be used on gums or in mouth, I’ve had to take teeth out where it burned through to bone.
