To be sick of work colleague bothering me

Ontobetterthings · 04/02/2025 21:35

There's a bloke in my team at work that is constantly messaging me on teams at work. Boring jokes or just statements. I tried to pass on work as thought he must be bored so passed on my work. Then he was constantly bothering me he doesn't know how to do the work. Messaging and then can he call me. Calls and drones on for ages about non work.

He's been sending tik toks at 2am in the morning to me. He's constantly on our work chat whatsapp and noone replies anymore. I noticed when noone replies he private messages me. I've tried to be polite and last few messages thumbs up them. Every night he's messaging me.
I'm really sick of him bothering me. What shall I do?

I had this with a colleague. I blocked him. Nothing happened after that - he got the hint. I would block him now so you don't have to think about it any more, and let HR deal with him.

Ontobetterthings · 06/02/2025 21:46

I've muted him and he's sent me 4 msgs tonight. Think I'm going to have to block.

Have you told him to stop?

BaMammaWASOoodiks · 06/02/2025 21:58

Talk to your supervisor/boss/HR about it, you shouldn't have to deal with that alone. You've tried, he's persisted, now take it higher.

What did HR say?

This is harassment

ThePoshUns · 07/02/2025 11:41

Op you need to tell him to stop. If he continues report him to the police for harassment.

BIWI · 07/02/2025 11:43

@Ontobetterthings Why haven't you told him to stop?

Ontobetterthings · 09/02/2025 19:32

Yeah my boss said ignore it and he will get the message. Saturday he left me two messages and a voicemail at 1am. My husband said I need to tell him tomorrow to stop as it's got beyond a joke.

But you also spoke to HR? Your boss' advice is inadequate.

Your boss is an idiot.

You said you spoke to HR too - what did they say? And why haven’t you blocked him? Voicemails at 1am?! That’s insane. How does he even have your personal number?

This man is obsessed with you, OP. You need to be less passive about this.

lemongrizzly · 10/02/2025 08:53

HR need to speak to him for you, what did they say they would do?

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 10/02/2025 08:58

Assuming the calls aren’t threatening or sexual, the police won’t be able to do anything at this stage because the man hasn’t been told by either the OP or their employer that the contact is unwanted, and the OP hasn’t blocked him. There are steps the OP and her employer need to take before it becomes a police matter.

noctilucentcloud · 10/02/2025 09:47

Have you had any more messages since Sarurday? I think anymore and you go back to your manager / HR and they are the ones who should be having a word. If you haven't had anymore then maybe your boss is right and hopefully they've taken the hint.
