I don't mind them celebrating in the slightest - I just find it hilarious that they all need to go out and pat the father on the back when they weren't the ones that gave birth!

Forgive me elastic. Am now about the course of the thread. However still think it should be on the nhs that new mums get a bottle of champers

dh deffo deserved it first time round - very stressful - I was having an ultrasound - and then I am being wheeled in for an emergency c-section. He got to hold dd1 for a brief moment and then she got taken to ICU. Mind you he did not go out until she finally came home three weeks later.

I think it is great - women get a lot of the attention and sure we do all the work so to speak - but they are new parents too and should be congratulated on being new parents.

I absolutely insisted on "wetting the babies head" mine was the official celebration- daddy could go out and celebrate if he wanted, but it wasn't the official event
