What is something you didn't realise until later in life

I was cooking today, following a recipe and usually when it states 'salt and pepper to taste' I always though well obviously it's to taste, I've only just realised it means add as much as you personally like.. got me thinking what everyone has cottoned onto later in life?

That "this little piggy goes to market" - is NOT going shopping 😭

I did not know this until fairly recently, I'm 54 🤦🏻‍♀️
