I had a Marland bridge. I now have half a Marland bridge. It's still attached to the back of my teeth but the fake tooth has broken off. What was my lateral incisor is now a chunk of metal. It's awful, and unconformable. My dentist just last month went private. There are none in my whole city. I don't know what to do. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Currently in tears. It's my birthday next weekend. I'm not going to get it fixed for an affordable price before then am I?

Unfortunately unlikely before next weekend, it will involve more than one appointment for assessment and fitting. A temporary snap-on veneer might work in the short term for social situations where you’re self conscious about it. You should be able to get them from large Boots stores and the like.

As the previous poster said though, no way will you get it fixed in time for next weekend. Nowhere in the country will do that for you in 5-6 days.

Nearest dentist to me that i can find taking NHS is over 2 hours away, I'm so gutted. It honestly looks like I've got a black rotten tooth right at the front. It's hard to explain how awful it makes me feel. I only lost the tooth because my ex punched me and broke it to almost nothing. Just want it fixed. Thanks for the advice.

I need this too for missing teeth again even the ones that they say they're taking new NHS patients aren't. I'm wait for our house sells so I can go private.

BatchCookBabe · 01/02/2025 22:25

If you can't get to your nearest NHS dentist that is 2 hours away, and your current one has gone private I'm not sure what you want people to suggest @Lilliea

There's not much more advice anyone can offer... What about using your current dentist, and paying off the bill monthly, or putting on a credit card? Do you have an overdraft? Could you take out a loan? No savings?

mistymorning12 · 01/02/2025 22:27

How long have you had that denture OP?
You may be able to get it fixed via Consumer Act 2015 or duty of care via the previous dentist

I don't know it's just happened so I guess I'm just in panic mode. I'm a lone parent and have no money, don't want to wake anyone at 10:30 to vent so turned to mn.

I don't think they'd be able to help. It's a bridge so still bonded to my teeth.

Thanks but there's no way I would invite him back into my life in any way, even to charge him. It was 7 years ago.

When I broke my crown during covid I managed to use a temporary repair kit where I moulded a false tooth out of these little bead things you melt and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I can’t remember the brand though annoyingly.

I'll have a look at this. Not sure it'll work on metal but will try anything.

I'm really sorry OP. I have bridges as my front teeth and one has come off before and I was a mess. It came off in one piece though, so I went to a late night private dentist an hour away and paid £200 to have it rebonded to the back of my teeth.

Where abouts ish in the county are you?

If you're prepared to pay, someone will be able to bond it back on if its in good condition, but it will likely be costly.

Thank you. The tooth has snapped in half. It's fallen out in two big pieces then a tiny piece. I think the whole thing needs replacing. I've just seen even on nhs it's £300 and I just don't have it so think I'm going to have to take out a credit card if the bank will give me one. Honestly it's reduced my self confidence to 0

Some dentists will offer payment plans.
I'm really sorry. I know that doesn't help, but please know I do really understand how upsetting this is.

Can you get it replaced with on single tooth denture? I had one for missing front canine and it wasn't too much.
