How long do you leave your dog for?

We’ve been considering getting a dog, but there are two days a week where the dog would be alone for 2 hours in between my husband leaving by for work and me coming back. I’ve seen quite conflicting advice on what is ok for a dog to be left alone. I am wondering what others do with theirs?

How can you live any kind of normal life if - for a lifespan of potentially 15 years - you don’t ever leave a dog for more than 2 hours? Ours is absolutely fine with anything up to 5 hours.

3-4 hours a few evenings a week whilst we are at gym or out but we are home all the time otherwise and he gets 2 walks per day. Once left him 5hrs when traffic meant we didn’t get home and he was ok. It did take him until he was almost a year old to be ok with being left though.
