Moments that make you explode with happiness

thecrazyone111 · 31/01/2025 22:40

Our brain is fascinating in that our mood can turn on a dime, e.g. when fed with sources that resonate with our brains such that we release neurotransmitter like dopamine and oxytocin to change our mood from neural to potentially exploding with happiness.

These events trigger my mind to feel extremely happy in the moment

  1. Seeing an individual who resembles someone I am very fond of or who made me happy in the past
  2. A young child (children) walking with their parents (due to my longing of having 3 kids)

I'm curious if others experience this what event triggers this phenomenon for you...

My dog greeting me every morning and every time I arrive back home. She’s always ecstatic to see me.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 31/01/2025 22:47

Hot sheets or towels from the tumble dryer

All my dc playing a board game with me and getting along

Being out in the woods when it's quiet and the sun comes through the trees

Elephantsarenottheonlyfruit · 31/01/2025 22:48

My children doing well/ achieving something they’ve worked so hard for/ something that brings them happiness

Bushmillsbabe · 31/01/2025 22:50

Seeing one of my child do something which makes me proud of them. Can be something like performing in a show or wining a race, or just some random act of kindness - my 5 year old in particular has a huge heart. She will randomly tell a person who looks sad that they are beautiful, give her last sweet to a child who has just fallen over, hold the hand of a child who is upset going into school to reassure them. I literally feel like I am going to 'pop' with pride and love for them.

Unrepentantfarter · 31/01/2025 22:53

The little snuffly noises and contented chuntering noises that my guinea pigs make when they're having a cuddle.

XenoBitch · 31/01/2025 22:54

When I am out, and see a big grown man crouch down and talk to his dog, telling him how much he loves them. Always makes my heart swell.

whatisforteamum · 31/01/2025 22:56

My 2 cats getting me up for work.
They always want treats at 5 am.🤣
Whenever I see my adult dcs as they live far away so don't see them much.

Champagneandpringles24 · 31/01/2025 23:00

Realising I got away after years of shit & abuse. I look at my little home, my furniture & I feel so happy.

Biggest fight of my whole life but so worth it!! I burst with pride & happiness and no fucker ever taking that away from me again.

Mic drop 🎤

My DD (21 months) said a new word this morning (slight speech delay) and my heart burst 😊

My DS (10yo) will say something extremely kind and mature when's its least expected and it makes my heart sing

Plump82 · 31/01/2025 23:08

My cat when he's lying on me and gently puts his paw on my face. The feeling of his warm little toes just fills me with love and I tell myself it's his way of telling me how much he loves me.

Thelnebriati · 31/01/2025 23:13

When I'm gardening and manage to grow something I can eat like rhubarb or a pumpkin, it ripens and is ready to pick.

tunainatin · 31/01/2025 23:16

-when my husband and kids are all at home - safe, happy and enjoying each other's company
-when I look at my work diary for the following week and there are not too many meetings, as I actually love my job and when I have a quiet week where I can just get it with things the anticipation makes my tummy flip!

SleepToad · 31/01/2025 23:25

Met up with old friends tonight. 40; years plus... laughing till it hurt.

The kids behind us playing...the laughter.

A great pint of proper cider

A great goal at football

A brilliant old film on Amazon prime

When my three adult children are altogether and hearing their banter . Not sure when the next time will be because one in Oz ,not sure when he will be home .

NowThatYouSayIt · 31/01/2025 23:31

Recently when my 12 year curled his lip at someone spelling ‘doughnut’ as ‘donut’. It gladdened my heart.

Otherwise, looking at paintings in the Prado, eating a particularly good grapefruit, being out in the garden on a starry night with no moon.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 31/01/2025 23:32

My daughter speaking - she's 5 with autism and isn't verbal yet so whenever she says something, anything, I feel joyous 😄❤️

Children playing and being happy

Christmas

Getting a yellow sticker bargain 😄

The first Monday morning of the summer holidays where anything feels possible

Seeing dogs with their heads out of car windows.
Watching Gene Kelly on roller skates (trust me,it’s mindblowing)
Hearing a load of geese fly over, the honking is hilarious

Titsywoo · 31/01/2025 23:38
  • Seeing my 2 grown children successfully forge their way in the world - they both struggled so much as kids and they now both finally have good friends and a passion for what they want to do
  • Snuggling in bed with DH at night and in the morning
  • Whenever I go walking through the countryside. I love walking and exploring. The Lake District is a happy place for me to be.

  1. Seeing dogs do important work. I just love the connection dogs can have with their handlers, from assistance dogs all the way to farming dogs.
  2. When speech delayed children find a way to communicate even if it's not verbal and you can see it click with them and those around them.
  3. When kids friends feel comfortable enough to help themselves to food or drink or the TV remote.
Youngheartsalittletogetherness · 31/01/2025 23:46

My Dw being so appreciative of little things in life when at times she's faced so much adversity and loss in her life.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 31/01/2025 23:46

Also when the sun shines on the bark of trees especially silver birches and you really get to see why they're called silver birches.

When I see my youngest daughter walking along holding her 90 year old grandads hand and the two of them chatting away with no concept of the 80 year old age gap, gets me every time

MyLittleDog · 31/01/2025 23:56

Walking my dog today, she was so very happy and adorable, bouncing along, looking up at me with such a delighted expression, wagging her tail at passers-by - my heart filled with love and happiness to see her enjoying life so much.
