Looking for Classes for Solid Food for My Baby

Dear Mums at Mumsnet,

I am a new father. I want to do a great job bringing up my child. I am able to feed her milk. But I want to give her solids and need help in that department. Can someone guide me. Happy to pay.

Thanks and much regards
Emma's Father

Single dads exist, you know.

The wording is oddly formal though.

I'm accustomed to writing formally.

@Needmorelego and the baby needs milk not solids.

If you have Instagram follow solid starts on Instagram - they show how good should be cut for each age

Do you know how old baby is then? I know mums with 9 month olds that say they’re new mums

Depends how old the baby is 🙄
Leave the man alone. He just asked a simple question.

How old is your baby?

She's 9 months. Have tried a few foods like mashed potatoes, avocados, blueberries, bananas, pancakes, etc. But her intake is quite low. So I think I need to increase my knowledge. Don't want to be experimenting on my baby when expert advice might be available.

Remember the saying, food is for fun until they turn one. It’s ok if she’s not eating a lot. The important thing is to make it a positive experience and try lots of different things.

It’s really normal at 9 months to not be super interested in solids, you can pretty much give baby what you’re eating so long as it’s served correctly, isn’t full of salt and sugar etc. there are solid start apps out there full of advice and nhs website too has ideas for weaning.

JimHalpertsWife · 31/01/2025 18:30

Intake is generally low in the first 6 months. Milk still gives the calories and vitamins a baby needs, so the food bit can then develop over time.

That sounds good for nine months tbh... Best of luck with it all!
