I've got two options for my parents to buy my youngest a present. And mum is weird about it and insists on buying everyone something ( usually a book).
This has worked well for 30 years but my sister and I do not get on since the onset of my parents dementia, so are not exchanging gifts and one of us pays onw year for mum and dad presents, and the other the next. Sister has full access to mu and dads bank acounts beause they livve with her and she has their mail directed to her place.
They are coming for lunch 2 days before my 12yo's birthday and they will be mortified not to bring him something. ( because they will have forgotten)
So, I'm thinking I buy something abd get them to sign the card ( they aren't that far gone that they won't know they didn't buy it)
Get my sister to take them down the road to the huge Westfields and choose something.
Any other ideas?

If you and your sister don’t get on, will she want to take your parents shopping for your dd’s present?

I would just a smallish present for dd and label it as from your parents. No need to get a book for each child.

one of us pays one year for mum and dad presents
