To think you can pretty much stream everything now?

OK so I’m a lazy insert expletive here and I’ve had problems with my remote which I hadn’t got round to fixing - anyway - long story short - my TV’s not working.

Anyway what I’ve discovered is - all the programs I watch regularly- I can stream anyway on various catch up websites?

By ‘everything’ I mean the main TV I watch ordinarily is the basic Freeview. I don’t watch Apple TV, Sky, Smart TV, Now TV - bar Sky, I’m clueless even as to what most of these are !! 🤣

So if like me - you basically watch just what used to be the 5 main analogue channels and the slight variations of it - like More 4 and BBC4 etc - it doesn’t matter if your TV breaks down you can get it all on Catch Up anyway?

Just FYI I don’t have home broadband or a PC, just a very up to date iPhone model.

So AIBU to think that streaming has become such a valuable service for people now?

We don't really ever watch TV and haven't for over a decade. We have a projector with a fire stick and use streaming services when we fancy.

I hadn't had a TV since I was a teen until the beginning of last year. I always watched streaming services/catch up on my tablet and dreamed of the day I'd have live TV again!

So last year I bought the all bells and whistles Sky Glass with all the extras, so I could watch live TV (and more!) ~ I still have not watched anything live 😂

I've noticed there's a lot of duplication across streaming channels - especially between BBC and Prime.

That’s the thing. Whenever I see on some Mumsnet posts where they say things like :

”Does anyone watch live TV these days?”

I’ve always thought - well yes of course - I can’t imagine an alternative!! ( am trying to live like it’s 1985 Grin) - but actually - this week I feel I can practically watch everything I was watching when my TV was working anyway !

Ah I must admit I’m not familiar at all with Prime

YANBU but I must say this has been the case for many years now so I'm surprised anyone is surprised about it!

Yes fair point! I suppose I used to just watch live TV when my TV was working and MOST of the time - although there were some definite exceptions - if I missed something I couldn’t be bothered to stream it on catch up - so if I missed Eastenders for example I’d never try and catch up!

The issue is having to have pretty much every service to access all the shows you might want to watch
There are also some old shows which you can definitely only see "live"
