To use budget opticians?

I wear glasses for distance and I’m blind as a bat need to pay extra to get the lenses thinned down. I was at my high street optician today and the price for that is now £140 on top of the cost of the frames which range from about £100-£140 so £240-£280 for one pair, which I just find eye watering. They do a two for the price of one on frames but you need to pay the £140 for thinning so if I want two pairs I’d need to pay minimum of £380! My eye sight seems to change regularly as I age so I expect to change my prescription every 9-18 months so the glasses won’t last long.

Meanwhile there’s a budget glasses shop in a nearby city that doesn’t do eye tests but sells stylish glasses for £85 all in. No additional charge for lenses thinning or anti-glare coating.

What I want to know is there any benefit to paying a premium price at the high street opticians shop or should I just take my prescription and get a bargain? Particularly interested to hear from people who are opticians or who are glasses wearers who have switched to getting their glasses from one of these budget places?

Get them online. I've been doing it for years.

Optitians Direct
Glasses Direct
Smartbuy Glasses

There's tonnes. Some post out frames without lenses for you to try. Or you just find the frames you like irl and buy them online. Type your prescription into the website.
