I am a partner in a business, but as a separate thing I'm a freelancer. For this tax year I've earned less than £1000 at the freelance work. Do I need to declare that on my tax return? I know the first £1000 can come under the trader allowance but does that apply even if I have a partnership income over that?

AIBU to not declare the freelance income? That's what I think the form is telling me to do.

Disclaimer, it's not much money and won't make much difference, if I don't need to declare it then my tax return is a lot simpler and I like simple!

Tax adviser here. Yes, you are fine to claim trading allowance. No need to complete the self employment pages if gross income from self employment income js less than 1k.
