To think Princess Di was killed

There OK I said it. You hoo, crazy conspiracy theorist over here…

Yes, I know they had an inquiry though anyone high up enough to kill a Royal could snowball an Inquiry or influence the outcome ? I think it’s naive to think the law is this perfect thing.

Ive always found it odd that she was labelled a “loose cannon” by the press and was campaigning against landmines. It was said that it caused a lot of noses out of joint in politics. I would have thought that weapons dealers and the industry would have taken a huge hit.

There aren’t many celebrities or organisations that could have taken on the weapons or arms industry as powerfully as Diana. It was until then an issue that nobody touched.

Since her death there’s still landmines and the issue has never really been addressed.

I wonder if she’d been alive today what she’d be doing. Not hard to imagine her visiting children impacted by war and maybe even Palestinian refugees, beaming images around the world to restore some sanity and humanity.

I dont think we realise the humanity, bravery and brilliance she had. Could have been going to glamorous events and being a Princess but instead she was carrying on even when powerful people were upset.

I wonder how powerful those people were or was it someone British. Men don’t take a liking to women with power and it amazes me more that she wasn’t killed deliberately in the context of this.

What are the chances she would die at such a young age and to not be wearing a seat belt seems bizarre to me. Just too many coincidences.

When was she dating that doctor bloke before Dodi?

Also why was she (allegedly) having periods? I would have expected a woman as high profile, as well connected as the mother of the future King of England and engaging in sexual relations to be on round the clock contraception. Periods should be null to just a one 'show'

Because, as gone in to at the Inquest, she was on a brand of combined pill that you take 3 weeks on, one off, and have a withdrawal bleed.

Lots of people claim he was a functional alcoholic because he was supposedly extremely drunk, and yet there is footage of him easily typing his shoelaces.

It's functioning alcoholic and that is literally what it means: alcoholics who can still function.
Alcoholics will also tolerate alcohol better due to enzyme induction so may well have blood levels that would have other people staggering or falling.

Theunamedcat · 29/01/2025 09:40

Not all alcoholics get liver damage I knew a married couple of alcoholics husband number one died of liver damage as did number two she died of old age in the end her liver kept going might not have been the best by the end but she was definitely an alcoholic

So maybe he was a binge drinker either way he drank that night because technically he wasn't supposed to be driving he did nothing wrong at that point, then he got behind the wheel of the car

Thanks.

The point I was hinting at (probably badly) to @JoyousGreyOrca is that the driver having had a supposed "pilot medical" does not mean their liver was checked for damage..

WIthout knowing the French DGAC (CAA equivalent) protocols it's hard to be definitive but generally annual/bi-annual medicl renewals are about eyes, ears and anything that might cause sudden incapacitation, not a deep dive looking for chronic conditions.

I never understood why they were going out for dinner in the first place. If I was staying at the Paris Ritz I would be ordering room service every night, or demanding a private dining room.

Correct, unless as always you wanted to court the attention of the press.....

I doubt there are many places in Paris for better food than the Ritz.

Which if he was a functioning alcoholic would explain it all.

I honestly don't think she would be nearly as popular today as you think if she had lived. Her death and the circumstances around it made her a saint. The press were turning/had turned on her already.

She would have had her choice to either settle down into 'respectability' or still have been courting publicity - which as a 60 something woman would have come across as desperate.

I don't think she was a saint, and no rational person thinks she was either. I doubt she would have had the same popularity had she lived, but I think she would remain someone who was held in affection just like some people continued to love Jackie Onasis or Audrey Hepburn. But of course thanks to'the age she lived in, the odious tabloids, and the Establishment PR machine, there would have been a lot more controversy whirling around her unfortunately.

It definitely was not solely her death that led to her fame and popularity either. It was partly the age she was born in to, which coincided with the rise of the tabloid celebrity culture, her face and photograph were everywhere globally. She was tall, good looking, and wore her clothes well and with a certain aplomb. The royal family had, up to this point seemed more aloof and staid, and she provided a refreshing contrast to that.

She also came from a family with an ancient lineage much older than the Windsors. When in 1714 the ancestors of her future husband, the current King Charles III, arrived in England from Germany to restore the monarchy, the Spencers had been intervening in the court for almost three centuries.

It was partially because we saw her evolution from shy teenager to confident woman, and partly because she was quite open about her struggles which were relatable. And partly because she had natural charisma and was people savvy, and seemed to be very much at ease with her charity work and brought great charm to it in an unstuffy way.

And finally, some of the areas she chose for her work were important but controversial at the time eg land mines and aids.

I think it was all of those elements which added up to her being very famous and popular, plus then dying so young at the age of thirty-eight in such a shocking way being chased by paps, leaving two young boys behind.

It was quite a life!

JoyousGreyOrca · 29/01/2025 01:03

@JandamiHash He had a thorough medical screening to fly planes a few weeks before, and no sign of liver damage was detected.

Can you show us?

pelargoniums · 29/01/2025 10:50

Went hunting for my favourite Diana fashion moments. I do think we missed out on her silver years; she just absolutely had the style It factor. Would have loved to see her mother-of-the-groom outfits or what she’d wear elsewhere to upstage Charles and Camilla’s wedding.

Clearly I like her best in daywear, though I do love a turquoise minidress by Jacques Azagury she once wore. All the minidresses were great; less keen on the early eighties gowns but that’s universal.

Yes

The Queen always wore gloves.

What made Diana so relatable was her apparent accessibility.

I will never forget her visiting a country I think in Africa.

This old man had issues with his foot. Princess Diana put her bare ungloved hand on this man's foot and and rubbed her fingers up and down his feet soles. I myself would have hesitated to touch this man's feet.

You just never saw such down-to-earthness - I hate to say this but it's true - in a white establishment-wealthy woman with such status. Never.

She truly was one of a kind.

Celebrities now aren't a patch. Diminishing returns I suppose.

Gustavo77 · 29/01/2025 11:58

She had no seat belt on and was crouching in the footwell to avoid the paps that she probably called herself. She was an attention seeking narcissistic fruit loop who cared for noone but herself and the false image she'd created.

The person who did survive had their seat belt on so no, she wasn't "murdered" 🙄🙄🙄

Yeah, that's literally what a functioning alcoholic does. Functions. Being able to tie shoelaces pissed is entirely in line with that description.

Alcoholics don't necessarily have liver damage either. It's not a prerequisite.

Dotjones · 29/01/2025 12:25

The real conspiracy should be, was she actually killed? Why does nobody question that? The photographs of her body you can find online are of such poor quality it's difficult to be sure they are real - to be honest, the alleged Roswell alien bodies look more convincing. Add to this the fact that the alleged death happened in Paris of all places - a place Elvis liked to visit when he was furloughed from the army, and Paris is of course in France where there were lots of sightings of Lord Lucan after he disappeared. And Shergar had French breeding too. Too many coincidences.

Yes. Exactly my point.

So you think she’s somewhere in the world while her children believe she’s dead?

Why would she do that?

Yes. Exactly my point.

So you're saying Dodi was expecting Di's baby? Now I've got the theme tune from 'Soap' as an earworm.

Good point.
And Paris is full of grassy knolls...
Do you think she and Elvis could have run a chip shop together?
Cod-spiracies has a nice ring to it🤔

Paris is also home to the Louvre where according to the documentary "The Da Vinci Code" the Holy Grail is buried. Coincidence?

That’s Joincidence with a C! 😱

meh2025 · 29/01/2025 13:42

How did they force her not to wear a seat belt? If that question can be answered, I will give the notion of her being murdered some thought.

JoyousGreyOrca · 29/01/2025 13:46

@meh2025 the claim is that the seatbelt was not working.

I'm completely at a loss to understand what Elvis, Lord Lucan and a missing race horse have to do with Diana's death or 'alleged' death.

So Elvis liked to visit Paris, a lot of people do.

Lord Lucas has been 'seen' all over the world, including - according to the landlord - having a pub lunch in my native Yorkshire in the 1980s. (To be fair they did offer some pretty good grub.)

Oh and Shergar had French breeding.

And Paris has an I in it and so does Diana; and Paris has an S in it and so does Spencer.
More 'coincidences.'

Would you be more convinced of Diana's death had she died in Rome or New York or London?

Also, you have a touching faith in the ability of people - a significant number of people in this case - to keep a secret for almost 28 years. Most can't keep a secret for 5 minutes.

And can you imagine how much money one of the media organisations would pay for a world exclusive that PD is alive and well and living in XXX? Enough money to allow someone to retire and live well for the rest of their days.

Careful now, you're getting too close. Do you have an urge to buy multiple copies of 'catcher in the rye'?
