How long after misscarriage/ how many miscarriages until you got your rainbow baby? Also did you do anything different?

Just trying to cling onto some hope that it will happen xxx

We had our rainbow DD 5 years, and six miscarriages from the first time I ever found out I was pregnant. The only thing I did differently was take daily aspirin, on the advice of the hospital consultant after various tests.

Sorry to hear you are going through all this it’s horrible.

Scorpion84 · 28/01/2025 13:10

I had success after 6 miscarriages aged 37.

my reccurrent miscarriages happed when I was Ttc a second child .

sometimes I still can't believe my daughter is here and she's 2 and a half now .

The only thing I did privately was go to prof Brosens at Coventry where I had 2 womb biopsies which showed I had very low nk cells which correlates with poor implantation . I took sitagliptin for 3 months which is meant to increase stem sells in the womb . I then conceived for the 6th time and had another loss . Two weeks after I conceived again and the pregnancy was txtbook just like my sons before the miscarriages . I never had any of my losses tested so I had no concrete answers and I don't know if the treatment from Brosens made a difference. I took no additional meds not even progesterone x

MotherOfCats25 · 28/01/2025 13:10

I had 11 miscarriages, some early some quite late on (18-20 weeks!)

I had two children inbetween all those. There's hope op.

MrsJHernandez · 28/01/2025 13:27

No miracle advice for you I'm afraid. I just wanted to wish you all the luck in the world. I'm sorry you're going through this xx

SpringleDingle · 28/01/2025 13:30

I tried for 2 years to get pregnant and lost it at 3 months. Lost the next a few months later at an earlier stage. 3rd time was lucky and my healthy baby was born roughly a year later than my original was due. She is 14 tomorrow! We never had another (couldn't try anymore)

TMGM · 28/01/2025 13:55

I was more fortunate than some in that I miscarried, took a break to recover and then got pregnant the same month as starting trying again (perhaps one period in between) approx 5 months after losing the first.

Everyone’s bodies are obviously different so I’d take these answers with a pinch of salt. I was told by a friend that they heard your body is “learning” when you have a loss so it should know better what to do in the future if everything else lines up correctly, maybe not exactly true but it made me feel better.

Waitingformyrainbowx · 28/01/2025 13:57

Thank you hun I am looking at going private but we are going to try one more time with aspirin progesterone and vitamin D but just want some hope. I’ve had 10 now and it’s killing me xx

I had eight miscarriages in total. Had 2, then a laparoscopy and had DS. Six miscarriages, lots of ivf, several surgeries and 7 years later, I had DD. We used a donor embryo to get her.

I had 7 miscarriages very early on, my GP just told me to stop testing so early to avoid heartache. I then had a MMC at 12 weeks. 3 months after that I conceived (with the help of aspirin for it to stick).

I hate the term rainbow baby though, as if my ds is defined by what came before him.

Waitingformyrainbowx · 28/01/2025 15:18

@Tipperttruck so glad to hear you got your baby hun did you take aspirin before getting pregnant?
Just a term I like Rainbow xx

If you haven’t already, get yourself a copy of ‘It Starts With The Egg’. It’s so useful for more about the inner workings of our eggs and how to prevent things going wrong.

Conceived 3 weeks after the start of my MC (at 6 weeks). It happened very quickly for us. I am sorry for your loss, sending lots of baby dust xx

Ella31 · 28/01/2025 16:59

1st miscarriage - 2022 - 8 weeks.
2nd Miscarriage 2023 - Chemical Pregnancy

3rd Pregnancy Stillbirth and neonatal death (twins) end of 2023. 😪

Currently pregnant with baby number 5. 28 weeks. Hoping for the best.

Got pregnant quickly with the first 3 after losses. Current pregnancy after my twins deaths took 8 months. But the grief of burrying my babies definitely took time this time around

Thank you and you too. If you need to chat, write away. It's a tough journey. In terms of conceiving. I took folic acid and vit d.

Truth25 · 28/01/2025 21:31

I'm so sorry for your losses op. That is heartbreaking and I think you need further investigation as to why this happens.
I've had a third trimester loss, 11 weeks and 7 weeks all for different and unrelated reasons. We then went private and the IVF route and successful with first round.

Whatanidiot123 · 28/01/2025 21:46

Fourth pregnancy after three miscarriages and infertility to start with (three rounds of IVF, two positive then two naturally conceived). Taking aspirIn, progesterone and blood thinners on the advice of the Tommy’s Miscarriage Clinic. Had DD. Two years later I lost another baby at 17 weeks. Then had DS almost exactly a year to the last miscarriage. He was a lovely unexpected surprise at 41 when I’d decided enough was enough.

There was a point when I thought there was no hope - 5 years ttc, several miscarriages even after IVF and as time went on it felt like my options were getting narrower and the chances of success ever smaller. But it did happen in the end 🌈

elliejjtiny · 28/01/2025 22:06

So sorry op. I've had 8 pregnancies and I have 5 living children. I miscarried baby's 1, 4 and 6. I didn't do anything differently except that for baby 1 I took ordinary folic acid tablets and with the others I took the pregnacare ones.

Gettoachiro · 28/01/2025 22:10

We suffered two miscarriages nearly exactly a year apart but then our rainbow baby arrived 14 months later with help from progesterone.

Best of luck Op

Hurryuphumphreygeorgeiswaiting · 28/01/2025 22:22

So sorry OP. I lost my DS to an infection after he was born. He lived for 3 hours. 5 months later, I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. I had my rainbow baby DS, 18 months later. Good luck x

HMW1906 · 28/01/2025 22:34

I had miscarriages in March 2019, July 2019 and November 2019. Our first son was born November 2020 followed by our second son in March 2023.

We were referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic at our local hospital who found no issues so we paid for some private testing through Coventry hospital/University of Warwick….it was something about Natural killer cells affecting implantation in the uterus, it was research by a guy called Professor Brosens. Think it cost us about £500 but that was 5 years ago. Anyway we managed to get this all done literally just before Covid (early March 2020), the professor recommended progesterone for the first 12 weeks when pregnant and that seemed to do the trick. When i fell pregnant again with our second i managed to persuade my GP to prescribe the progesterone. I know Tommys miscarriage clinic which is also based at Coventry hospital used to allow self referral and they had more testing than most local NHS recurrent miscarriage clinics, this was going to be our next step if the private testing hadn’t been successful.

Crazycatlady79 · 28/01/2025 23:02

Several miscarriages at different stages over a decade or so.
Was told I couldn't have children.
3 years after that, conceived and bore twins with no intervention.
My fluke/miracle babies.

This was my magic combo after three losses. My daughter is now eight months.
