Would you buy almost your dream house but it has no utility?

I have started to convince myself that the gorgeous house I have fallen in love with will work despite it not having a utility room.

Our last house had one but our current does not. It’s a bit of a pain but we have got pretty organised with laundry as a result and it’s not that bad a set up. But it’s not ideal especially in winter with 2 dogs.

The house is at the VERY top of budget. Going into house buying we said the top budget would only be reserved for the perfect house.

The laundry is this house is in a big cupboard upstairs.

what would you do?

I think having a washer and drying facilities upstairs makes far more sense. We have a tall house with a lot of stairs and a ground floor utility, and clothes, towels and bedlinen to be washed have to be lugged downstairs, laundered, and then lugged back up to bedrooms. Very little of what’s washed and dried lives downstairs. What’s the issue with having an upstairs laundry spot? Is there no drying?

I would much prefer an upstairs laundry than a downstairs utility room. It just makes more sense. It might be different that what you are used to but you may well find it easier

I'd buy it, use the laundry upstairs and have a hot/cold outside tap installed and get drying coats for the dogs. Just hose them off after each walk

Upstairs laundry sounds way better, I hate lugging the washing up and down the stairs, I’d go for an upstairs set up over a dedicated room everytime.

My upstairs laundry room is the best thing in my house! We got rid of a bathroom to accommodate it.

Is there anywhere at all downstairs you could stick a second washing machine especially for muddy/dog stuff?

If it's a forever house then even top of budget, you might be able to extend in a few years and build a utility so I wouldn't let if put me off if it ticks all other boxes.

If you think emotion is clouding your judgement, make a list of all your needs in a new house and then tick them off on this one.

We just have although we are converting the garage into a utility and lounge.

I like a downstairs utility for muddy towels (we produce a lot). Right now the dogs come in somewhat near the washing machine and it’s easy and not too messy to chuck any towels in straight away to wash. It’s my only concern

I have a spaniel mud magnet and totally get your concern, but just get a big waterproof bag for towels (e.g, bag for life) and take them upstairs to wash. When you say laundry do you mean washing machine? Or a laundry room?

I'd just thrown them in a plastic bag to take them up or as owelexpress says a waterproof bag
