To think that many men on social media are knuckle-dragging weirdos?

Other than Facebook, I don't have social media. I rarely comment on it and never anything incendiary. The comments many men make - with regards to women - just show them for the misogynistic pricks they are. Not all men of course, but a majority (on FB at least).
I commented on a video last night. Young woman from overseas, who at 18 met the British guy in his 50s that she's now with. I said that the power dynamic between them must surely be out of whack.
Lots of laughing emojis by men and one guy commented that it's no wonder I'm divorced Grin
They really do hate us, don't they?

Yes, it's disturbing to see their true thoughts spilling out when they're behind a keyboard and feel they're anonymous.

PiastriThePastry · 26/01/2025 09:36

Honestly I don’t know quite when it changed so drastically but such a huge percentage of the comments I seem to see on instagram are so vile and misogynistic, and frankly depressing in highlighting how much men truly hate us, I’ve had to just stop looking altogether. I like to think that NAMALT, but really, it gets harder to think that every day.

tygertygers · 26/01/2025 09:38

agree. X.com has to be one of the worst for this. Twitter was so diverse and fun, but it's slid into a cesspit of incels and right wing misogynists.

A lot of them will be bots, but the outcome is the same: division and hate.

I've noticed a lot of random relationships meme posts on Facebook since new year. All over the place. Men hating memes just as much as woman hating memes. They are designed to spread hate between the two sexes, and judging by the comments sections people are falling for it.

DonutCorleone · 26/01/2025 09:40

Ultra conservatism is coming out as a counter to the very liberal "woke" (I hate that word!) societal tunnel we've been directed into. A sector of men have felt undermined by feminism for decades and the internet has sadly managed to allow them to all pool together and form a horrible slime of misogyny that gets regurgitated like some unmanageable dose of heartburn on social media.

This place is becoming a bit of a magnet for the angry little man brigade lately.

AzurePanda · 26/01/2025 09:40

I very much agree with this. A lot of men’s anger and hatred of women seems to come out when they can be anonymous.

Huckyfell · 26/01/2025 09:44

Are we allowed to talk badly about men here? Just making sure we aren't a bunch of hypocrites 😂😂.
I know really they are a bunch of carnal beings really.

Strawberryfruitcorner · 26/01/2025 09:44

There’s loads of these comments on Facebook, I’m not sure if all of them are real or fake accounts BUT you’ve fallen into the trap of commenting on Facebook crappy posts that are designed for this exact reason. Maybe you should look at yourself and why you needed to comment what you did.

Echobelly · 26/01/2025 09:44

It's kind of a game to them. They don't think they really hate women, but they do. They get a sort of release from saying things to women online because they're annoyed they're 'not allowed' to say them in real life. I mean, they are allowed to say them, but there's more likely to be consequences.

I recently bought myself an airfryer and joined a related group. My first post on there was a polite question asking if people use liners, to save on mess.
One dickhead wrote 'USE ELBOW GREASE. DON'T BE LAZY'.
Hmm

Exactly this. Facebook is a cesspit, it’s all a clicking game to drive interactions.

Spot on! It pisses me off because these relationship hate memes seem to get the algorithm priority over my general interest group posts on my feed at the moment. I'm constantly having to press hide all posts from this creator on the relationship hate memes whilst having to actively search for my actual interest group posts.

It's not just on social media. A good proportion of the male population of this planet are knuckle dragging weirdos. Not all but a good proportion. Social media accentuates the issue due to relative anonymity but it is ultimately a reflection of the real world.

mrsmiawallace3 · 12/04/2025 21:09

What about we ask if perchance the man in question is fat, bald, and rich, while the 18 year old girl, well, isn't . Watch them fall silent... 😂

It really is. It’s very off putting.

JLou08 · 12/04/2025 22:22

I find some of the comments from women even more shocking. It's sad to see so many women have ingrained misogyny and will jump to defend men who have been found guilty or accused of hurting women. So much victim blaming and disbelief that men could be violent and/or sexually assault women. The rhetoric of women being gold diggers and looking for either money or 15 minutes of fame is often spouted by women on Facebook too.

Yaaaassssssqueeeeeennnnnslay · 13/04/2025 10:55

Yup! I assume the better ones don’t have time to be sitting on SM all day calling women names, presumably they have jobs, hobbies, friends and families to occupy their time.
