To think Trump will declare himself as a God?

He seems to be edging closer to being the second coming or a new God. His anger at religious leaders having a platform to call him out is something he would want to shut down. Said God spared him etc

Would this actually surprise anyone?

Our late queen was open about the fact that she genuinely believed that she had been appointed by god to be queen. I don't know if the current king feels the same, I assume so? Not very different, is it?

MushMonster · 22/01/2025 17:21

Do not be silly. He cannot do such a thing!
He will call God and make God make him a God. LOL
God of the Earth and Mars and the space in between.
Most definitive US, Canada, Greenland and Panama canal, shortly followed by Middle East, UK, Germany..... all the way to Mars.

slimpicks · 22/01/2025 17:23

He's not stupid and he is an atheist so no, that is unlikely. The lack of fear when being shot is due to him being a sociopath.

BlueRobins · 22/01/2025 17:23

why not, many believe jesus was the son of god, and he was human so if its good for jesus and we have to have faith

No it isn’t

when you are told this from a child and treated and live as though you are special why would you question it

but many people believe their path was chosen by god

HappyNewFeckingYear · 22/01/2025 17:29

You need to go and hang out on some of the MAGA web spaces, they have been calling him the second coming for years.

It is quite scary and very blasphemous.

IdaGlossop · 22/01/2025 17:30

For me, He is already is a God. He doesn't need to declare it. 😳 This cheetos make-up tutorial proves it.

Why do you say he is an atheist?
It makes zero sense for an atheist to say God saved me, followed by a purpose. That is a proper religious person speech.
Internet tells me he is a christian, though not particular denimination/ may have been prebyrarian.

It makes total sense - a huge chunk of his followers are very religious and this would totally speak to them.

nothing would surprise me but I was more concerned about Barron who if its possible looked even more arrogant than his father, and the positioning of the family as a whole as some kind of dynasty in waiting

Barron "looked arrogant"? I didn't know you could tell that someone was arrogant by just looking at them - fascinating! Is this a new science?

He's an 18 year old young man who is almost 7ft tall. He's going to standout. I'm sure like most 18 year olds he's uncomfortable being the focus of attention. Try to not be so ridiculous🙄

I think people just like to find things to scare themselves about. For some people it's riding a rollercoaster, for others it's watching a horror film and for some it's fantasizing that Trump is going to take over the universe. To each their own.

Tisthedamnseason · 22/01/2025 17:44

I thought the whole "god saved me from the assassination so that I could save America" thing was funny.

Why wouldn't god just save him from getting shot at all.

HappyNewFeckingYear · 22/01/2025 17:50

Barron always looks sad. The poor kid needs to go to college, take a break from both his parents and discover life.

I worked with a woman who would say that "God saved the last sirloin at the butcher shop" for her (and she was totally serious). I would have thought that God had more important things to worry about, but what do I know?
🤔

When my son was 18 he could have never withstood the public spotlight. It's a lot to expect from a young person.

I do wonder if Melania worries about him being physically close to his father in public in the event there's another assassination attempt.

2dogsandabudgie · 22/01/2025 17:57

I think we can all have those moments where we think that a "higher being" is looking out for us. I know that in desperate times I have prayed to God and I'm not religious, don't go to church although I do find it quite calming being in a place of worship.

Chuchoter · 22/01/2025 18:01

It's about time that Trump derangement syndrome was officially recognised and treatment such as laying down in a quiet room and comforted with 'There, there, tell us where the orange man hurt you and we'll make it all better!'

He was moved away from Washington last time

I think he has been quite well protected given the circumstances

he is like his mother she doesn’t show much emotion she is European not American , I don’t think he looks arrogant he is a very young adult with the world watching him trying to look composed

Wouldn’t surprise me with all the Christ-like poses he keeps striking, the daft apeth

Agreed. I find Barron the least worrying member of the Family Trump and feel rather sorry for him.

Maybe that's why there's so many wars and bad things happening in the world, because He's too busy checking out the stock at the local butcher's shops to notice.

🤦🏻‍♀️

The messiah complex is hardly unique to Trump. Many politicians and billionaires lose sight of the difference between themselves and God. See also:

Did I say Boris Johnson?

And why wouldn't God choose a three times married, racist, rapist who's already made $50 billion since becoming president, as the saviour of humanity!

Serpentstooth · 22/01/2025 19:07

He'll divorce Melania and marry a palomino pony intending to breed a race of bigly beautiful centaurs. Makes as much sense as any of the other crap he spouts.

I am avoiding coverage of US politics, Trump in particular, at the moment and for the next 4 years - unless a miracle happens and somebody sane somehow becomes President in that time (not holding my breath for that). Although I don't think Trump would declare himself God, I do firmly believe that he is ready to establish a hereditary dictatorship and that the US is screwed.

Is someone with dementia more sane?
