Shamelessly posting in AIBU because it might get more responses.

My AIBU could be: AIBU for sitting in bed wide awake, with not an ounce of political knowledge to my name or even a uni degree, thinking what I'd do if I was PM.

Probably yes!

I'd introduce a scheme where companies are allocated a shadow(ING?) grant to take on unemployed for a set period of time whilst they are recieving U.C. Hours can be flexible to suit those who have children, doesn't have to be full days. During this time candidates shadow members of staff, learn basic skills in industry and then have experience to put on their CV. Company is not in any financial hardship due to receiving grant and it may make recruitment easier when needed.

It's very basic and and I'd be rich enough to spool the initial idea and let the professionals do the rest of the work (in my fantasy world) and I'd definitely solve the unemployment figures and gain my self a second statue for my work.

I did consider making all jobs part time and job share too but I'd have to somehow bring down the cost of living... maybe that'll be my 80 year plan.

What would you do?

Ps I'm a fully grown adult 😂

If I was in charge I'd like a system of fairness and one that supports a welfare state we can be proud of again.

I'd want to make sure that those who were profiting from the UK market would pay their fair share of tax and not try to evade tax by offshore banking.

For those on UC who haven't got a job, but who could work, I would implement a system of voluntary work and education. An example might be someone who is interested in nature. They'd still receive their UC if they volunteered for a nature reserve and also spent time learning about their passion - rather than just sanctioning someone if they don't turn up for a meeting.

I think learning and working, where someone is capable, is good for both physical and mental health, and it contributes to society.

We have so many people in our society that depend on a welfare state, and so all of us who can, should contribute to it financially and make improvements for those who can't.

All politicians would have to have a board placed behind them on every platform where they speak as an MP. The board would be covered in sponsors logos like in sport. Then we can all see who is donating money very clearly.
