Plastic surgery recommendations

Probably not the right section for this but didn't know where to post this!

Anyone recommend any clinics around the Edinburgh or Glasgow regions for tummy tuck / mummy makeover?

" mummy makeover" ?
Oh that is sad.
Giving birth to a new life and nurturing that child is one of the fundamental things of life.
Since when did a woman have to be ashamed of her body post partum?
Why do mothers need " makeovers" and plastic surgery for heavens sake?

How patronising and condescending.

Who asked you what mothers need or don’t need? Are you the self appointed spokesperson for all mothers everywhere?

What is patronising and condescending about what I said?
I'm merely expressing the view point that it's sad women are being conditioned to think their bodies post partum are something to be ashamed of rather than a natural consequence of childbirth.

Why should women be ashamed they have given birth?

I had a tummy tuck after 4 kids as I had a rather large "apron" that just depressed me every time I looked at myself in a mirror, it boosted my self esteem so much, I wasn't bothered by my stretch marks at all and I still have plenty of "tiger stripes"
I just really needed to get rid of the apron for myself. I went to Prague to get mine done though as it was way cheaper at the time. The care I received and the work they did was amazing.

I even had a surprise #5 baby after it! And it made my body shape more natural and I didn't get an apron that time. I'm happy with my body shape now.

You do you not what anyone else thinks 😊

I had breast enhancement surgery
by Mr Quaba in Edinburgh, he’s excellent.

Can I ask the name of the clinic you went to?

I still have the business card somewhere, it's right round the corner from the Amethyst hotel in Prague, Czech republic. The company name here was beautiful beings, they allowed me to pay in installments over 6 months prior to the trip and surgery. I'm trying to remember the name of their building/company though, it was something like Asklepion. It cost me £2900 for the flights there and back and the hotel for 7 days and a few nights in the clinic after surgery & airport taxis Czech side and a tummy tuck, they also gave me £500 worth of free lipo too which was nice🙂.

This was about 10 years ago now so no idea what their prices are now and definitely take someone with you if you did go, just to carry luggage and make sure you don't end up face planting the floor when walking around after surgery, they do it as soon as you get there so once out of the clinic you can very slowly & shuffling walk around a bit. The surgery Is very exhausting to recover from so I advise not too much walking around or too far. Hope this helps!

Oh also their taxis, most of them with no tariff marked on the vehicle will scam you out of as much as they can so £100 for a 2 minute journey etc. so use ones that you know how much it's going to cost to get from a-b. Or bus, tram or train. I think there was a train station there somewhere. I just stayed close to the hotel😁

It's beautiful out there in summer, and the river is stunning, also when arriving there the buildings looked like something out of a fairytale.

I had a tummy tuck with Awf Quaba (his son Omar also does them).

Surgery was at Spire Murrayfield Edinburgh.

It's the term " mummy makeover" that is so appalling.
It's saying there is something wrong
with a woman's body after she has had children that needs to be rectified. Instead of accepting that how a woman's body is after she has had children is the natural consequence of giving birth.
If women who have plastic surgery after childbirth accept they do this because of poor body image/ low self confidence that is one thing. But to have plastic surgery just because they are now mothers is just an abnormal mindset.

@Alphabetalphabet

Completely agree, what an utterly cringeworthy term.

schoolie258 · 22/01/2025 13:59

@Imposter1212 - oh good. I have enquired with spire, I think that's the one at murryfield? I was put off slightly by some of the reviews on google tbh but I have heard a lot of people mention this surgeon and say he's really good

@theresabluebirdinmyheart - I've heard good things about him. Did you pay in full or did you take out finance? I'm asking because I'm technically still employed but I've took time away from work so i don't have an income. I've asked my husband if he can take the finance out in his name and I'd pay him the money back but I'm not sure if they'd allow that.

I looked at st Ellen's hospital too but they don't really do finance and said you'd have to pay in full

@schoolie258 I am not sure, he has own website Quaba might have more info. I just took out a bank loan, and paid it that way.

Did you have muscle repair? How long did it take before the tightness went away?

@Kolkai @Imposter1212

Yeah I had muscle repair and it was so tight and solid. I had difficulty standing up straight even 9 months later. It wasn't until I had my last baby that it loosened it.

So now it feels more natural rather than a solid board, it was solid from my stomach muscles at the top all the way down to my groin! Other people might like that tightness but I needed a softer looser feel, and my belly button looked like a square while healing but wasn't too bad when healed but it was also really tight with scar tissue, my last Baba also helped soften that up too and it looks like a normal belly button lol. I don't advise having babies to stretch the tissue/scarring but maybe some gentle stretching often even if it feels a bit uncomfortable and aching afterwards. Stretching the scaring will ache a little bit and sometimes a bit stingy ( what I felt during stretching in pregnancy)
Hope that helped? Sorry for the text wall!
