To ask if anyone actually finds job hunting fun or exciting?

I know most people find looking for jobs stressful and exhausting but does anyone out there genuinely enjoy it? Exploring new opportunities, imagining fresh starts, or just the thrill of seeing what’s out there - do you find any part of job hunting fun or exciting?

Or am I completely alone in thinking there’s something energising about the process (even with all the rejections and waiting involved)? Would love to hear if anyone else feels the same - or why you think I’m totally unreasonable!

I like the thought of getting out of a job I’m in. And there’s that thought that the other job might be better. Then yup 😄

I do! I love it. The thrill of the chase, the ultimate dopamine hit for a ADHDer like me. I get bored easily and frequently apply for jobs and have done many interviews and been offered (not always taken) some great jobs in my time. I love refreshing my emails waiting for an interview/job offer or even a rejection is fine. I enjoy interviews and barely prep just completely be myself. Totally see where you're coming from OP!

Oh this is me exactly. So my suspicions that I too have ADHD are probably correct! I have turned down maybe 5 good jobs in the past 10 years. I just have the ultimate satisfaction at being offered the job, but am too scared (lazy?) to take the chance and move from a comfortable job I can do with my eyes closed. Now that I'm forced into taking a new job, hopefully soon, maybe I will learn to embrace a new thing. But at the moment I am refreshing Indeed 100 times a day and absolutely frustrating the life out of myself!

I'm retraining now but enjoy job hunting. I've luckily not really been in the position where Ive been desperate though.

Today I was looking hypothetically and really got into it. I was energised to find an interesting job I could potentially do well on promotion from my last role using the skills I've learnt from my degree so far. It gives me confidence and I like to know I have things to offer (ive had to take time out for cancer treatment). I've always been a bit of a job hopper though in a structured way and love writing and building a case so applying plays to my strengths.

ADHD probably plays a role too
