Was she trying to guilt trip me? Work related

My new manager was covering one of the rooms and was quite stressed due to a lot of staff being off sick/other reasons. She was thinking about the next day and how she could sort cover if the staff members were to be off again. She was clearly stressed but then suddenly sighed and said 'what a day' and then looked at me 'fancy working tomorrow Charlei?' (Friday is my day off). I just said erm, I do have some things I need to get done tomorrow. She said 'So what you're saying is you don't want to work for me tomorrow' with sort of an eyebrow raised and head tilted then said 'Why don't you work Fridays anyway?' She was clearly expecting me to say yes I think and seemed a bit put out that I couldn't be available at short notice

I imagine she was just stressed about covering the shifts. Not really your problem though. I wouldn't worry about it.

I also don't work Fridays. A few of us don't. Head of company semi-regularly tries to put in team meetings then. I either decline, or say I'll have to log in with my toddler.

It is what it is. I wouldn't worry.

She was having a tough day and was wondering if you wanted overtime. You’re overthinking this.

Thats her problem. She tried to get you to do overtime. You aren't obliged and didn't want to. Doesn't matter what she thinks about it.

Your answer would annoy me if I was stressed. I'd prefer you got straight to the point and said no.
