To not point out my salary is too high?

I recently accepted a job offer, and have just been sent the contract. The contract has my salary down as £1000 pa more than what I was told when I accepted the role.

Shall I just not point this out, sign the contract and see if I get a little bit more in my pay packet?

I'd sign it and say quiet!

I'd sign it and say quiet!

Sorry - I'd sign it and STAY quiet

KhakiShaker · 16/01/2025 12:38

I’d sign it and send it back 👍

It's not obviously a mistake, so I think you are well within your rights to sign it.

But check the contact carefully that it has all the other contractual benefits that you were expecting.

Fairislesweater · 16/01/2025 12:47

It might not be a mistake. When I got my contract it was more than I expected but I hadn’t taken into account some of the annual leave allowance (I’m term time).

DoYouReally · 16/01/2025 12:50

I would sign it and send it back with a note thanking them saying you are very happy to sign the contract and are very satisfied with the details and final renumeration package offered and you are looking forward to starting with them on x date.

You've brought it to their attention indirectly but act like you belive there isn't a mistake (it may not be).

FoxInTheForest · 16/01/2025 12:59

It may be that they've hired 2 people at the same time, that person bartered for more and so they've made yours the same for fairness?

Circumferences · 16/01/2025 13:02

DoYouReally
That's a great response

"Just to let you know I've signed and am happy with the final agreed remuneration package"

Which is basically saying you've noticed but not making a big deal of it.

SexAndCakes · 16/01/2025 13:04

It may just be that it is £1K more than you expected, especially if a 'bitty' number (as in, they spoke about £55K and it's actually £56K because they weren't being exacting in conversation.

Twaddlepip · 16/01/2025 13:47

It won’t cause much of a stir to your pay packet after tax, but I’d definitely not highlight it and would simply confirm you’ve received and are happy with it, and return it signed.
