i went for a blood tests last Thursday and today I called to an appointment and they didn’t have any despite me calling first thing!! They’ve had my results since the 10th the Friday so the day after, is it possible they don’t even look at the results yet? I wasn’t expecting the results to come and Friday so soon and not hear anything

Have you tried just asking for the results? That’s what I have always done and the receptionist looks them up and tells me what the GP said (normal or not). I have the NHS app and can see my results on there too, have you tried that? GP appointments are like hens teeth I very much doubt you’ll get one to be given test results. If that is the level of service you require I’m sure that a private GP practice would be able to do that for you.

Check your NHS app

Just phone and ask the receptionist. If there is anything to follow up then you can make an appointment.
My GPs send a message asking you to make an appointment if there is something they need to discuss with you.

I’ve always called and asked if the results have come in and the receptionist can tell me, even give me the numbers of my medication level, and if anything is outside the normal boundaries of what’s being tested it triggers a call with the GP. So I’d speak to your GP reception first rather than trying to make an appointment.

@Mamebea , they often say this but they are your results and you can insist on having them. Tell her you don’t want her to interpret them. That said the GP should have indicated if any action is required.

Do you have the NHS app if you are in the UK? You can view your results on there. You can also ask the receptionist to print your results off for you

The NHS app is the answer here OP. Everyone is being urged to sign up because it will take the pressure off surgery staff having to answer so many phone calls. I also use patient access to see my gp records including all my test results and have done for the last 6 years or so. Hospitals are rolling out access to online records/ letters and appointment systems. It saves so much time.

Mamebea · 16/01/2025 13:11

Thank you! I’ve got the app’ never been told about that , just told to call.

Just check the app. My blood results are on there within 48hrs of the blood draw.
