Thinking about taking a course in AI - have you?

Despite having no interest in AI, I have finally accepted that it is essential I understand how to fully work with it. My industry, like so many others, is really progressing towards using it A LOT. I don't want to become irrelevant.

Whilst I can play around with ChatGBT, I don't know much else. I'm thinking about doing a course. It's specific to my industry - but the syllabus seems also quite general.

So my questions are:

  1. It's not a cheap course - are these courses worth it? Will the content be outdated before long?
  2. Are there any institutions that are particularly recommended for Ai tuition?
  3. Have you done a course? Did you get something out of it?
  4. Shall I teach myself, and if so, where/how?

Thanks

Great questions. I shall follow for answers.

Would your employer fund it as development?

Have a look on Corsera. They have, AI teaching courses free of charge and paid for to get the certificate. It's now an app on the phone or laptop. I just live coursera

I'm afraid I have no knowledge of proper courses - hopefully people will come along who do to help you with that side of things! Are you wanting the credentials that come with doing a course, or are you just wanting the knowledge itself? If you're not bothered about a certificate then, given the right prompts, ChatGPT itself is an absolutely amazing teacher! It will design a course tailored to exactly what you want to learn and give you instant feedback etc. I pay for the premium version which is about £18 a month (though of course you can just use the free version if you want), and it's some of the best money I've ever spent! It's helped me learn so much, as well as helping both my kids with a lot of tricky A Level stuff they weren't sure of. I'm hooked 😂

Edited

It's not so much the crudentials/certificate but I want a strategic approach. Someone to ensure the approach is structured to get the right info, if that makes sense.

Good idea about Chat GBT. Maybe I'll give that a go first
