Sounds absolutely bonkers! How does Britain benefit from this deal?

How much of the billions going to Mauritius is going to go to the Chagossians?

as I understand it, it’s zero. There might be an argument for giving it back to them and paying to lease the military base but I can’t see any argument for having it over to a nation that it was never part of and who have made it clear they’re going to screw us.

Absolutely corrupt deal. I consider it absolute treason and for no gain whatsoever.

There was something going around yesterday about how it was aktually a really smart deal because if we didn't do it, the UN would permanently disable the telecommunications access around the military base. Please! Oh my god, that is never going to happen. The US's hard military power is only subject to "legal uncertainties" in fairytale land.
