I feel bad as I do love them. But recently we were away and got back late. They spent an extra night in the cattery. And … it was bliss.

No cats shoving their arseholes in their face as I try to read my book, able to eat without the cats trying to steal it, grated cheese without the cats trying to steal it, opened the door without cats thundering in and out, it was so lovely and calm.

Is it just me? I’ve always had cats because … well, I’ve always had cats, but mine are currently doing my head in!

I've just noticed you can see my hoover in the top left corner of the photo 😂

We lost a cat recently and my 15yo keeps asking if we can get a kitten. She is very much a cat person, she isn’t that fussed by our dog but loved the cat. The house is calm with only one dog left (we lost our elderly dog in the autumn too). I also keep thinking how old all our pets reached and at nearly 50 it means I’d be caring for a new pet til I’m close to 70 assuming they live full lives! My current dog is 6 now so perhaps ten more years tops (elderly dog was 15 when we lost her) so that will make me around 60. I love having pets but they are hard work at times too.

Oh yes! When he was quite young. That hasn’t stopped him though, and we have a performance most nights. He’s the only cat I’ve ever had who has done this and I try to dissuade him when we have company.

If it makes you feel better mine also does this. Usually on something fleecy. I thought it was just him!

My cat can drive me nuts when she does something that she knows is naughty just to get a reaction, but I couldn’t be without her. Running her claws down the wall to make a screeching noise is a favourite!

She also celebrates the fact that I ‘survive’ each shower by rolling on my feet and purring with happiness the second I step out, and it melts my heart every time!

I do when she wakes me up at 2am or 3am wanting to be fed. If I wanted sleepless nights I would have had a child 🤣

I shut mine out of the bedroom overnight now because she woke me up several times jumping on and off the bed, licking my face etc.
Sometimes she miaows at the door for 5-10 minutes but she gives up, she has the run of the flat overnight.
Some people will say it's cruel I'm sure but sleep deprivation is cruel too.
