Aibu to think keys can't vanish

They have to be here somewhere!
I'm in a panic as I've lost an important set of keys.
I have not lost something, like keys or a phone or a wallet , in more than a dozen years. I am not the one that loses things, I find the things, ffs.
I have tossed the car, my purses, coats, counter tops, side tables, boot rack (even inside boots incase it fell off the key rack) I'm losing my mind!

I am trying to be methodical, but I can't actually remember the last time I used them.
It's been a few weeks, as any time I have gone out it has been with other people , so I wasn't the one locking up, or driving.

Please, suggest places I may not have thought of, or maybe tell me where you've found yours, so I can check there too?

At a business social event some years ago, I became the new best friend of one of our biggest clients. She couldn't find her car keys - we were in a field at an outside event at night. Being an experienced loser of things, after many options were exhausted, I suggested keys could have gone through a hole in handbag lining.

Our house keys went missing and we searched everywhere for days.
Luckily we had another 2 sets of keys so no real problem.
After much brain bashing we narrowed it down to a particular day..He arrived home from work just as it started to rain so he dropped everything and brought the washing in.
I was upstairs cleaning hadn't noticed the rain..
A few days later I found the keys in the peg bag.
Relief all round.
Don't give up.

If they were in the cup holder in car they could have easily caught on something as you exited car and fell onto pavement. If you have a parking space I would double check around there.

I found the car key on the floor of my wardrobe - must have been in a pocket and fell out.

House keys on the floor of a cupboard at work. No-one had noticed them for a week.

In the car between the door and the seat, both sides.

I lost my house and car keys for over a year. Pulled the sofa out one day to get the dogs ball and they had fallen down the back

I find that they are usually where I looked first but I didn't look hard enough before I set off on a weird journey of looking more and more thoroughly in less and less likely places.

I lost a set of keys two years ago. It took 3 weeks and €400 to get a replacement from Seat. They gave never turned up. I have a tracker on them now.

Friend misplaced bunch of keys last year. Once he'd bought replacements and had house locks changed etc, he found them in the freezer.

Where I have found lost keys:
Under or down the sides of sofa cushion seats under the sofa
In the boot of the car - placed them in there to pick up heavy shopping then forgot
Down the side of the driver car seat - that tiny space that you can't get your hand down near the gear stick!
In a different coat/jacket or bag to the one I normally wear/use
In a cupboard, I had placed them in there in a rush, when unpacking shopping, and the phone went which distracted me

When found, place the keys in a regular place as soon as you come home. Car keys cannot be lost only misplaced.

I found my missing keys under a loaf of bread in the kitchen once.

That was after I had been searching around the forest in the dark by torchlight 😆

Socks can’t vanish either but the 7 lonely socks in our utility room would suggest otherwise. Sorry I can’t actually be of any help!
