What's the shortest time you've stayed in a job you hated?

Been in mine since the last week of November and really don't like it. Not sure how much longer to stick it out..it's a 'professional' job and it does have good benefits, but the actual work i hate.

I really enjoyed being a Care Assistant sadly that's a looked down upon career which is a shame, it was rewarding though and I was good at it. Part of me wants to go back if I can find one with contracted hours.

About an hour.

Started as a head chef. Was told by the owner I had to use fish and meat that was in the fridge . Meat cooked but undated so I had no idea how long it had been there. Fish 5 days out of date. I refused . He insisted. I walked out.

Had the same working in a pub did just one shift and she said i had to stay 2 hours after close to clean up, there was a huge box of crisps and bar snacks that were over a year out of date so i threw them out and she went mental, i walked out, another time another pub again one shift the landlord had hired me, the wife/landlady walked in ( i was young and attractive and she wasnt) and she said 'what the hell is she doing behind my bar' i just walked out i didnt need that..

One morning. It was a well paid job in a credit card company. I attended a meeting about their latest product which was a new card designed to rip off low income people. I walked out half way through the meeting and went home in disgust.
There psychometric tests showed I was a perfect fit for the job haha.

Oh and when working with adults with complex mental health needs we were on a training course for managing challenging behaviour. A bloke there was in his first week. There was a lot of talk about how to defend yourself if you are attacked. He went out to get a sandwich from the local shop at lunchtime and we never saw or heard from him ever again.

Op I know this isn't the point of your thread but what was being a care assistant like? I am thinking about it. Did you need to drive? What were the pros and cons?

6 hour shift, walked out at the end and never went back. It was in a fast food restaurant when I was 16.

I walked into a new job and knew there was something wrong in the team but it was in a professional role.
So I stuck it out until I had a breakdown after 6 months and didn't work for another 6 after, it was that dangerous and toxic. I never really got back to the level I was after that experience.
To this day I should have listened to my gut instinct and left that day but I didn't want people to think I was stupid

One shift. It was cleaning in the evenings at Asda. Apparently it was 6 days a week, "Monday to sunday". I was 17, why oh why didn't I just say at the interview "so which day is the day off?" As it seemed to be 7 days not 6 just worded stupidly. Also the manager was a complete prick.

Apprentice hairdresser after I left school, many years ago. The stylists were 2 young women who were horrible to me. They'd bark instructions at me 'shampoo my lady', but all at the same time and I could only do one at a time, so whoever had to wait had a go at me. A horrible, rough woman worked there part time shampooing clients too, and she bitched about me to them, so that they all ended up giving me dirty looks. She had a daughter my age who shampoo'd on Saturdays. God, she was rough. Talked in a loud voice about her and her boyfriend having sex. I was there 3 months. I hated it.

Another one. I lasted a total of 12. I knew by the end of the first day that I hated it. I cried everyday on the way to work. Went on the sick, got another job. If anyone is miserable at work then leave. Being in a job you hate can take a huge toll on someone's mental health.
