AIBU - to be annoyed at Sainsburys reducing their 32" Sony Bravia by £200 after only having bought it at the higher price 3 weeks earlier???

and for the customer service department to basically tell me that it is tough and that I am not entitled to anything!????
Want to go and shout at the Store Manager tomorrow but I am just being unreasonable???

bluebell if it seemed like a good deal it probably was
I am sure you didn't get ripped off if you thought the price was good

AitchTwoCiao · 04/05/2008 21:40

lordy this place is full of mentalists these days, you can't seriously think that everything you buy isn't allowed to go on sale?

bluebell82 · 04/05/2008 21:40

FrannyandZooey completely see your point, thank you- my hands have been slapped- I had to try and get a bit of sympathy from somewhere imagine sitting next to my dh when the advert came on.. honestly like a scene from Fight Club-!

well you've taken it like a good un now bluebell
just remember next time that AIBU is not for the faint hearted

bluebell82 · 04/05/2008 21:43

I really don't think I am a mentalist when companies such as JL and GAP have such policies, I didn't think mumsnet was a place for name callers- I appreciate that there is a thread on here about people like me who take offence but honestly please don't call names there is no need.

Anyway shall we just leave it there ladies I won't ask for advice/sympathy on this forum again- enjoy whats left of your weekend

OP posts:
AitchTwoCiao · 04/05/2008 21:50

oh do come on...

a. i was joking, mentalist is a silly insult not a pointed barb
b. you are being ridiculous because JL and Gap would have charged you much more than Sainsbos for that level of customer service so you can't be a cheapskate and moan about it
c. MN is exactly the place for name-calling.

PotPourri · 04/05/2008 21:53

I agree that it is frustrating. But DH always tells me that if you buy something, you were happy to pay that price, so if it is reduced later, then that is just tough. Them's the breaks.

Worth pursuing, see if you can get a refund. But in the end, if you were happy at the time with the price, then it's kinda tough - sorry

morningpaper · 04/05/2008 21:53

enjoy whats left of your weekend

now that sounds like a threat

onebatmother · 04/05/2008 22:17

bluebell if it seemed like a good deal it probably was

Franny! Would you feel like this, if it'd been you. It's a very Zen approach, but realistically it doesn't wash, I think. Most of us would be deeply pissed off, because we tend to be relativist, I think.

HappyMummyOfOne · 04/05/2008 22:17

If it had gone up £200 would you have paid them the difference?

Prices do chop and change due to sales, demand etc, its just part of life.

AitchTwoCiao · 04/05/2008 22:18

i seriously would feel like that and would not describe myself as even slightly zen. shit happens, you can't put an exclusion zone round your purchases, particularly not techie ones.

AitchTwoCiao · 04/05/2008 22:19

aye, good point happy. what's your position on sales, OP, you give back the difference when the price goes up?

Loshad · 04/05/2008 22:21

why do you need a 32" tv anyway?

scottishmummy · 04/05/2008 22:24

to enhance Dr Who enjoyment

morningpaper · 04/05/2008 22:25
FrannyandZooey · 04/05/2008 22:25

Onebat I am sure I would have been hacked off
i never in a million years would have expected the shop to pay me the difference though

bluebell82 · 04/05/2008 22:27

and the babychannel enjoyment for my dd of course!

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 04/05/2008 22:30

ah now I almost suspect you of trying to kick off another argument there bluebell

bluebell82 · 04/05/2008 22:35

i know I should accept defeat ... still going to try my luck tmrw... probably get laughed out the shop but once I get something in my head no matter how unreasonable it seems to other people I just have to do it..like a lamb to the slaughter- you can all kick me tmrw when I tell you that I was ejected by security staff!

OP posts:
onebatmother · 04/05/2008 22:36

but lots of poeple do, Franny, or the GAp and John Lewis wouldn't have the policies they do.

But let's talk kids tv..mwah ha haaaa.

NiceShoes · 04/05/2008 22:36

awww i feel your pain.i mean £200 not insubstantial

scottishmummy · 04/05/2008 22:37

on a more cordial note is it a good television are you pleased with it?

FrannyandZooey · 04/05/2008 22:38

I don't shop at Gap or John Lewis

don't you think it's a bit, well, an over developed sense of entitlement, though, onebat?
people do seem to get muddled about shops and companies being there for the social good, also, rather than to make a profit and get as much money from you as possible, in the most part

bluebell82 · 04/05/2008 22:39

my dd loves Boobie and Booba on the Babychannel, super educational.. today they were playing with the Boobie scissors.. am I digging a hole!?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 04/05/2008 22:39

bluebell if you do go back, please don't shout at the store manager
it is making me feel nervous for both her and you
