To hang up on a scam call from a donkey sanctuary?

Just had an odd phone call which I am guessing is a scam - I've not had one like this before though, usually they claim to be from Microsoft or some insurance company. Went like this:

'Hello I'm calling from Dogs UK can I speak to you for a minute.'
Me 'What?'
'Do you have a dog?'
Me: 'No.'
'Would you accept a call from the donkey sanctuary inviting you to play in the donkey lottery.'
Me: 'No I hate donkeys , I don't think they should be saved.' (This isn't true, I just wanted to end the call.)

Anyone else had this? What exactly is the scam? Or was I unnecessarily rude to a real donkey sanctuary?

Google the number and who called me. Likely to be spam, just ignore and block.

I work at a donkey sanctuary, many are given up by owners as they lose grazing fields, can't afford vet bills, owner died, donkey's companion died [they need to be in pairs ideally] and some are badly treated or dumped on waste land.
Have seen all these scenarios. I'd rather care for animals than humans any day.
As for your spam phone call just hang up in future, no need to say anything.

I think I made a fair point.
Why do we even have them? Why are they bred?
And begging adverts are awful.
You can get the rage all you like.

Donkeys don't have any possible use? They've carried loads for thousands of years - and still do in many parts of the world. To ask why we even have them is a pretty narrow view of life.

Oh yes, you are right, around the world.
But no one does that here.
