my adult daughter has a operation tommorow and i fly to italy for day trip is this wrong?

i have just found out my adult daughter 24 has a operation tommorow to remove fluid from her head, im due to fly to italy on a day trip, the hospital doesnt allow visitors and she and partner have said to go but i cant help feel guilty even though i cant do anything other then wait at home,would it be unreasonable to go?

Flying for a day trip is the unreasonable part.

There is no such thing as “legal next of kin”. Her next of kin in terms of making decisions on her behalf is whomever she nominates before she goes into surgery.

i dont know its my first time using this and i couldnt work out how to answer initially so left last letter off.

If I were the patient I wouldn't want my mum to cancel, but if I were the mum I wouldn't be going anywhere.

What sort of surgery is this? Is it Neuro? Does it involve GA? 'Draining fluid from the head ' is too vague to advise really. If it's draining a sebaceous cyst under local from head and neck, I'd go; if neurosurgery then definitely no.

OP I hope your daughters op goes ok, I had an awful preganncy 3 years a go where I was told to abort at 20 weeks (luckily didn’t have to but was still a horrific time) i’m pregnant again and was convinced the same would happen. My mum was due to go on holiday this week and I was the same as your DD, told her not to miss out or she’ll lose money. It’s a tough situation but you must go OP and try not to worry too much.

No way I would go.
A day trip to Italy is ridiculous anyway.
