Quick salary calculation question

Orion999 · 08/01/2025 22:16

Am helping a friend out who can't check their wage slips at the moment and we need a rough idea of what their pre-tax salary is

Take home pay = £1800 per month
Works 24 hours per week
Age 61

No student loans etc

Salary calculators online all calculate home pay but we just need a reverse-calculation for guidance- can anyone help please?

I think it's around 40k? 40k Pro rata'd to 24 hrs a week gives in the region of 1800 a month take home by my calculations, but that's assuming no pension deductions. So it would obviously be higher than 40k if there are pension contributions coming off that.

Lol its definitely nowhere near £40k - they've never earned that much! But thank you for replying :)

The PP said 40k pro rata'd, so it would be 40k if full time

I work it out to be roughly £32000 before deductions

Add 20% for Tax & Ni if they don't have any other income or another deductions for pension contributions it's roughly £25920 pa

Yes that's what I meant - 40k is the FTE salary from my calculations, which is what I thought OP was asking.
